i got a 1g fwd and they did the swap before hand, and cobbled the wires together. I am going to just get a tsi wire harness and replace it. I already have located one right down the road. My question is, on the firewall, where do i all have to unplug stuff from?

thanks.

sorry, my first post was kinda unclear and sketchy. haha. Well i found out what all to unplug from the inside(ecu) im having troubles figureing out what to unbolt to actually be ably to pull the harness out the firewall.

I am pulling my engine harness to replace it because my harness in it now is very cobbled together, and since i have the engine out anyways i thought i would do so.

yeah it goes behind thedash. but idk what all im supposed to unbolt. do i have to tear apart the whole dash?

you dont really have to pull the dash well i wouldnt say pull it. i think u have to pull the heater box if im not mistaken and the radio and little things around it. you will understand once you start going threw it. its not hard.

I wish I could help out more, but I've never worked on a 1g only on 2gs so I was trying to get a view of how the harness was.

The 1G wiring Harness on my 91 TSi was basically from the edge of the glovebox compartment (towards center), you have to unplug the speaker, the sensor for the glovebox to close, the light for the glovebox and then unwind all those wires back towards the drivers side. Then unplg all the wiring on the heater core section of the plastics. From there, you basically have to unplug the entire center console, including the stereo, ECU, controls, etc. Then have to get all the gauge wiring out and from behind the dash. Then except the driver's side of the wiring... its out

I honeslty had to diasseble the entire dash to get to it but not pull it out. If you don't have a service manual... you are going to want one. There are a lot of screws that hold the harness in and the airflow tubing is in the way a lot. But if you have the time... then you should be ok. If I were you... Label ALL THE SCREWS... something I didn't do and wish I had.

you have to start opposite what I said but you will understand as you start pulling everything apart. Like said before it's not hard but time consuming.
