my dsm runs high (as in cold) until the gauge is completely at operating temp? IACV? just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before i spend 70 bucks on a sensor

Your sensor's fine. Your $15 thermostat has shit the bed, and is not closing all the way. Replace. Fill your cooling system with one jug of 50/50 Prestone pre-mix, and another gallon of grocery store distilled (not "purified") water. Pour the excess into the expansion ("overflow") tank, drive the car and re-fill the tank to the top when it's cold the next day. Nothing on a DSM needs to be burped.

DSMs are up to temperature in about two miles of easy driving, which is the way all cars should be warmed up. Warming while standing still puts you on the road with a nice warm engine, and every other moving part stiff and cold.
