I was just wondering about doing the cutout instead of getting an exhaust right now... The coppers are all over the place trying to bust racers where I am at... I want to stay super quiet, then hit the dump valve and be out, then close it and be quiet again...

Does anybody use these in their street cars? If so, what is a good setup to go with? What kind of gains come from this mod?

My friend uses one on his Firebird, does that count? IDK what setups there are, he got all the parts and then had an exhaust shop weld it up. He dumps just past the passenger door after the cat. It's pretty simple to wire also, just a simple toggle switch will do the trick. BUT even if you dump you're not really making much more power if the exhaust before the cut-out is restricted. My friend got 3" only back to the cut-out and left everything behind it alone. Does that help at all? You probably already know all this...

I had one for my Rx7 last year, it worked great! Originally I had it come off a 3' down pipe and split off before the cat, it worked great but it was way to loud on a Rx7 I ended up putting two glass packs on the pipe just to quiet it down some. Rotaries produce a huge amount of noise, too much even with my helmet on it was to the point that when i got out of the car when running it with open pipes my ears would ring like i just got back from a concert.

The electronic valve worked great though and it stood up to the high heat of the exhaust no problem even when i would be shooting flames off throttle. And the power difference over the stock system was amazing you could absolutely feel the difference even at part throttle. If your trying to go low profile i would go for it. just remember that its illegal to strait pipe an exhaust and your never gonna pas and inspection with the pipe on their even if it is closed at the time and 'only for the track'. If you do it i would still suggest putting a glass pack or free flowing resonator on their to keep it from sounding buzzy or obnoxious.

ok... But where do I get the electronic valve? I cant find them for a good price... I want to do it because if I get a full cat back I will be getting pulled over for being loud... I could be real sneaky with this... And the inspections dont bug me... I got those on lock....
