My first post here, my first DSM too. I'm in El Paso, technically on Ft. Bliss. I bought a 1991 Eclipse 1.8 8v. Nice little car, I like it. It was a craigslist find that I got for $600. I definitely looking to meet some fellow users. I'm good with cars but have never had any experience with the DSM cars. My experience has been with German cars and old school domestics. Is there a time/place where people normally get together, i.e. a weekly meet at a Sonic or something?

jjm96gst, Ouch. Very low numbers for a turbo. How many passes did you get to make? I've never been to this track, maybe it is slick.

Chris_92TS, What's wrong with your car? When do you think you will have it on the road?

I made only three passes cause it was cold and my Fiance was freezing But I practiced some launches on an empty road here by my house and it was gripping fine when I would launch around 3000 but at the track I tried the same thing and no luck just kept spinning. I guess I have to get used to fwd. My slowest pass I made a mid 16 with 3 sec 60' I felt like crap

I hate to make you feel even more like crap but my non turbo makes faster passes, . My 60' is like 2.2 seconds and 1/4 mile low 16s. It just takes practice to get that perfect launch. Don't give up. When you get back we can go again.

Ya I know its mostly user error
I did take out a 350z on that 15.8 sec run so that made me feel a little better but that just means he was a worst driver.

im in el paso too.. the is a good dsm following here...

im sergio im from luna performance.. i own a 95 gsx.. thats my bebe... we do gather up on weds night over at the sonic on montana and airwaays.. its not just dsms but we have good showing.. plus in the summer team dsm has cookouts and such...hit me up.. think its about time we stired up the local dsmers...

Tank, you work at Luna Performance right there on loma verde? I drive past your shop just about everyday. I've seen a few dsms out front, (like the blue 1g thats sitting out there now) I was going to stop by once I get my turbo engine shipped out here.

that 1g is the bosses mom car... awd a/t... we just a family of dsmers..(just got my son a 99gst project car...aww his first car) we r currently moving the shop to rebel dr. off of lee... long story with the current landlord.. anyway yea we r on loma verde right now but i think by jan we will be on lee..

the cruise has moved from the taco cabana on lee trevino to the one on montwood... now we gather up on montana and airway.. at the sonic...it gets pretty packed even in the cold weather.. during the summer its get awsome... theres plenty of carshows and racing in the area we try to attend as much as we can... its hard thu...

team dsm was started locally back in 03 during the desert demons haydays back when teddy would be the human tree and use flash lights.. back in the day of the lee trevino cruise..(dam im old)it consist of eclipses talons lasers evos... pretty much anything with a diamond star badge... just a bunch of guys (and gurlz)who injoy bbqing and our cars these cars have brought us together.. now some of the ogs have moved but not moved on.. we have friends in clovis, phx, of course los cruces, juarez mexico, even built engines for guys in the interior of mexico..

ive rambled on... hit me up with any questions.. we will be trying to make the cruise this weds starts getting good bout 8pm...

hey Serg what up man.... Sorry I did not leave my car at the shop I had some stuff come up so my budget when out the window. I'll probably get some work done when I get back, should be there in about 3-4 months. Take care man

Will your new location be as large as your current one? I've never been inside but from the street it looks to be a good size.

I did a 6 bolt 46g3t rebuild/swap several years ago but I romped on it before the break in period and lost compression in one cylinder. At the time I was completely broke and needed my car so I swapped my trusty ol' GS engine back in and that was that. Several years went by (during which time I moved across the country to EP) and I lost interest in my dsm and I almost sold it But now I'm back and ready to give the turbo swap another go. If you guys know your way around a 4g63 I may bring to your shop once I get it shipped out here.

the new shop is slighty smaller.. going from 10,000 to 7,000 but its a neseccary evil......

Glad to hear it I'll hit you guys up once I get my engine shipped out here.

By the way, do y'all ever ship engines? If so who do you use? How do you package it? I'm still researching now. Just figured I'd ask.

Hey Tank, are y'all all moved out of your old building? I think I saw your car the last week, I would have waved but I was in my truck, you were on Rojas under the joe battle overpass. You've got a luna decal on your side window, right?

Mine is at the body shop for the next week or so getting the new front bumper and support put on from when I was hit about a month ago. Its only been there for a day and I'm already starting to miss it. I'll try to swing by your new location once I get it back and check out your shop. Hopefully my turbo engine will be here soon, still waiting for my Dad to ship it across the country.

Still waiting on a local dsm meet. I think it would be awesome. Let me know if you have any ideas.
