Does anyone know if this would be a good set up? I plan on going with the Eibach Pro Kit and Tokico Blue HP struts. Any help would be appreciated!:dsm:

I'm planning on Pro kit springs and Tokica Illuminas. From what i've heard its a good and popular set up. .

Word on the street is that blue's are a waste of money. They're a stock equivilent shock.
Use your stockers instead of the hp's. Upgrade to illumina's/agx's/koni yellows when budget allows.

I've been on prokit/illuminas for over 4 years. Great ride height and tight performance

HP's are not a stock replacement. KYB GR-2 however, is.

I'm running the HP's and Eibach sportlines and I love it. I recommend sportlines over pro kit. There is so much wheel gap to begin with, I just don't think the pro-kit takes care of enough of it.

I've wanted the pro kit for about a year but recently decided that that is simply not low enough as crazy said.Unless your struts are blown you do not even need to change those with the pro-kit...the springs are made to work with OEM struts.

I'm now gonna go with sportlines, even a used slightly sagging set if I can find one,and Illumina's or AGX's.

How are they made for OEM strusts/shocks, if the Pro kit is stiffer than stock? WTF

STOCK HEIGHT PIC ABOVE

Eibach Pro Kit Springs
We strongly recommend purchasing a quality shock absorber along with these springs. They are approximately 20% stiffer than stock. The purpose of the shock is to control the spring energy. Get more spring & you need more shock. If you are on a budget and can't afford both, get shocks only for better handling. If your only purpose is to get all the chicks & look cool with a lousy ride, get springs only.

EIBACH PRO KIT ABOVE

Sport Line pic, too low for our taste but looks cool. Rides bad and you have to slow down for everything.

First of all, who is "our"?

Secondly, you say it rides bad, are you referring to how it rides with sportline springs on stock shocks? As I stated before, I have the Sportline springs and Tokico HP shocks, and I hardly notice a difference over stock, which my brother has (GS-T stock suspsension). It's your opinion that the ride quality is bad, and you shouldn't have to slow down for much.

9 times out of 10 when you lower your car the ride quality won't be quite as good as stock, due to the stiffer suspension, unless you're willing to spend the big bucks.

See I thought that to get better handling, you needed both shocks and springs.. Is RRE claiming that to have a car that nandles better, you need just shocks and possibly, sway/strut bars? I can not see aftermarket shocks mated with stock springs handling worth a damn due to the excessive body roll with the stock "lift"?

I am also thinking of buying the KYB AGX, then cutting off one coil off the stock springs. The shocks will help stiffen the hell out of the back, and soften the hell outta the front, while a lil drop from the chopped springs!
What ya'll think?

WHOAH....don't buy quality adjustible shocks/struts then cut your springs?! that will seriously mess up your spring rates/corner weights/balance, not to mention wear down those AGX's and your chassis. cutting springs is one of the worst things you could do to your suspension.

i also recommend the sportlines and the tokiko HP's. this is the setup i'm currently running (w/ 205/50/17's) and it's great for the street. pretty good at absorbing bumps/potholes/whatever and under cornering loads it handles well. good handling improvement over stock without breaking the bank.....also the ride height is perfect for the city without having to double as an asphalt grader. no more 4x4 look either. Pictures of my ride height are in my profile.

I may even do the Tokico IL kit. Comes with the adj. shocks and springs.

Or while searching Ebay, KYB AGX's are 350 shipped, and don't know what springs I would want...

I am affraid Sportlines will be lower with my 16" rim, compared to those running 17-18"?

I'm running stock 16" 5 spokes and 205/55/16 tires and I love the height and ride quality(Sportlines/HP's)

Here's a current pic.

Does anyone know the difference in stiffness between the Sportlines and Pro Kits?

That does not look too bad. I have seen some pics that looked worse.

Heh, this is only a couple of years old.

I stand by my statements, however, despite my newb status at the time.
HP's are a waste of time, they're too "entry level" to justify over the stock replacement KYB's. Even the Illuminas are slouches. Go Koni yellow.

And please don't buy Sportline springs, despite the wiseman recommendation. The drop is too severe combined with a lower spring rate than the stock equipment you're only hurting your car's handling.

im looking to buying HP's...

possibly with h&r sport springs or elibach pro springs

they shouldn't blow with a 1.7 1.4 drop... right

i know everyone here says get the adjustable shocks and all but I am on a budget and whatever gets the job done with a decent ride and not blown shocks is fine with me
