EGT probe location

under the car today still checking things out and i see that the last owner has the EGT welded in the exhaust under the car about inline with the begining of the roof line if you were facing the driver door.
isnt that supposed to be pretty close to the dump from the turbo?
i also just bought a new TPS since it was missing.

Deoends where you wanna measure the temp from. Usually It should be as close to the head as possible. If you are trying to get true exhaust temps. Some people put it in the collector cause they wanna know how hot the turbine is getting, some pit it in the down stream exhaust after the turbo to measure post turbine temps.

Somethinf to note is the EGT and back pressure sensors are he same thead.
So it's possible they were previously measuring back pressure rather then temp.

just bought the car last month and still inspecting. its running an aftermarket ecu so i guess that distance is getting factored in the tuning.
