Egt guage readings?

ya what are normal good egt reading and whats a little lean and whats melt down and rich ect?? in C degress please

860 top of 3rd, although some people feel 900 is ok.

Some people run 900 or a little over in the top of 3rd. I can't afford a new engine so I also play it a little safer looking for about 860 or 870 in the top of 3rd. Also the TRE probe is that much better very swift reacting. From what I have read you don't tune looking for an EGT number it just lets you know if you too lean. I look for knock mostly when I tune or a dip int the timing indicating knock.

I've found that if I exceed 825C, I'm having timing pulled at least a teeny bit. I'm quite comfortable seeing it up near 875C though. I've seen it hit 925C a few times with no resulting problems (at least not yet).

Note that hitting the rev limiter will give you a huge scare EGT-wise if you don't know any better... On a typical autox course, I'll see a peak EGT of at most 775C, but if I let it hit the limiter at any point, I'll have a 850-875 peak reading!

(F-32)/9*5=C

IIRC That'd put you in the 850-875 range roughly.
