ok so i tore down my new motor and found bad piston rings.then i looked closer and found part of the ring grooves cracked .the crank was all good and not shure about the rods.my question is i found a set of knock off h beam rods that they say are rated for 600 hp.they are a decent price but not shure if ebay rods are any good. also if i get the ebay rods can i use 2g 7 bolt rods insted of 1g 7 bolt rods.and i know this is a dumb question but can u use a stock style piston on aftermarket rods. the reason i ask is because i want thicker rods snapped one and want to avoid that. do u have to use a forged crank for around 450hp.

to answer some of your questions

1) EBAY makes rods? (What exact brand are the rods you are looking at)
2) I believe the rods between the 2g and 1g are interchangeable
3) YES you can use aftermarket rods on stock pistons

i dont remember the name but they are thick rods and the look somewhat strong at least there not cast and are way thicker than stock 1g 7 bolt rods.they have cheap pistons that say they test and dyno 450hp and 40% stronger than oem piston.was thinking these rods and the pistons i found for a 2g 7 bolt on a polished 1g crank with arp bolts and acl bearings.

1g big rods with 2g pistons is a much better setup
why would you want to switch the two around?
you will get your hp goal easily with this.
And your crank is fine

i have a 1g 7 bolt block and crank.the rods are little and the pistons are no good .found a set of 2g 7 bolt rods that i want to use and has the 2g pin size.want to know if u can use a stock style piston with a aftermarket rod.want a good solid bottom end that will hold 350-400hp.for what it would cost for the 1g big rods machine work for the wrist pins and to make it work on a 1g 7 bolt crank is cheaper to get these rods i found than to mod 1g rods.

If you do decide to get them, at least get them balanced, it says they are within 4g, which isnt very good to begin with, and i dount they are even that close.

so do they look like they would be a decent rod since they are rated for 650hp. also do u think i could use some 2g stock pistons on those rods. wanto to use these rods and some stock pistons insted of 1g big rods.

personally i would go with the 1g big / 2g piston or even the evo piston combo..

maybe you should swap to a 6 bolt motor if its out?

Brand name rods are not even $100 more. You cannot use aftermarket rods with stock style pistons. The aftermarket rods use a floating pin, stock pistons are not machined for locks, or clips to keep the pin in them.

i dont know if the rods are press pin or float pin.also if the evo9 pistons are forged then why wouldnt they work on the rods.the only reason i cant get a brand name is because dont have the funds but these rods are in my budget if i can use a press pin piston.cant find any cheaper pistons that are forged.can find the rods all day for 300 but cant find cheap pistons to use. for what the 1g rod and 2g pistons combo will cost to make it work on my 1g 7bolt can get some forged rods.justn need to figure out a solution for my pistons problem.
