I was looking on ebay earlier and the have alot of "type" fireball or N1 mufflers. Are these any good or am I paying cheap to get a cheap part? I have tried to do my homework before asking the same questions over and over, what is a good exhaust setup for a 92 N/A talon, I am trying to avoid the "pissed off beer in a beer can sound". I am new to DSM and crossed over from the Nismo world, not really sure who's good and who's not. Any help would be great, just trying learn

Well hello there, and welcome one more time to the DSM world.

Much headaches await you young grasshopper.

Anyhow, a 2.5 muffler is the biggest I would go in a N/A DSM, not only because you don't need anything bigger, but also to keep a nice sounding exhaust.

Those eBay fireball/N1 Apexi/Greddy copies you find on ebay are actually not that bad, they are amazingly cheap, and yet they don't sound bad, also they're from decent quality, the reason I know it's because I have helped installing these eBay mufflers on a few cars, including turbo DSMs, hondas and whatnot.

Are you building a custon cat-back or you're just planning on welding this muffler to your stock piping.? if you decide to buy from them, get one with an included silencer, that'll help you tune you exhaust sound. Because this silencer doesn't only go from quieter to louder, they could change the tone from Ricer to Nicer depending on your taste.

I found a few shops in my area that do mandrel bent pipes so I was thinking I might do it myself with some help from fellow experianced DSM folks. Out of the knock offs would you know which one has the more mellow sound, I don't mind if I gas it and it screams but at cruise I would like to her myself think.

If you're building a custom mandrel bent exhaust you may want to consider a resonator to keep things quiet at cruise. One will be enough, and it wouldn't be restrictive.
2.25" to 2.5"piping diameter should be more than enough.

I don't really know what muffler would sound better than the other from ebay, I'd say shop around and look at their feedback from previous buyers and see what they have to say.

Good luck

go with "megan" or "tsudo". i have a tsudo on my 95 NT and its low and sounds pretty mean. those are some cheap and respectible brands.

Well I decided to go on ebay and pick up a muffler for 29$, all and all if it sucks not like I really lost alot of money in it. I bought a "SEBRING TALON EAGLE STRATUS TITANIUM N1 MUFFLER EXHAUST", dimensions are 19.5 x 5 x 5 with a 2.5 inlet and silencer included. Guess we will see if it works!!!
