Easiest route to replace an engine for a complete newbie at engine replacement

I have never swapped out an engine before. 1g's are getting so rare that I am considering getting a vehicle with a blown engine and swapping it out with another one.

What is the general availability of used/rebuilt engines these days? What are my sources and options for getting an engine as complete as possible?

What are the prices generally?

I am referring to a 6 bolt.

Check a vendor for a rebuilt one, that shouldnt be a problem finding one and they list pricees right on the site, or even call them or email them. Tell them what you need and they will be more than willing to help.
