dual piston calipers in rear??

i just recently upgraded to the Baer Front claw breaking system.. was wondering if any one has tried to put the stock 2 piston caliper on the rear to replace the one piston stock caliper???

It could be done. But you would need to upgrade the master cylinder to keep up with the demand for fluid and pressure from the extra brake pistons.

Would it bolt up with the back bracket, or would i need to get the hubs like the front for the rear?

No it won't bolt up. You would need some custom brackets to make them fit the hub section.

I would also like to add that you would need a larger vented rotor because the stock non-vented one won't work with the dual piston caliper.

Do you know what the piston area is for the 2-piston fronts? Without the world's weirdest prop valve, you'd be dead at the first corner.

Do more reading on brake bias before continuing this thread.

Front to rear caliper piston sizing is based on weight distribution & CG height...etc. You do NOT want to increase your rear brake bias without brake-system smarts, it is not safe.

Buy a book called The Brake Handbook... I think it is by Fred Puhn

thanks for the reply, i wasn't sure about this, thats why i posted this topic. Just seemed like i have some bad ass front breaks now and the rear are so cheesy.

Gross over amount of rear bias. Wrong rotor. Not even close on brackets.

Only production caliper that 'might' be worth considering is the rear part off a 3Si. Two pot opposed for a vented rotor. Swap the rear now to the vented one and hope the caliper mount centers are even close.

When done what will you have? A fixed caliper with two pot opposed design. Same basic piston area so no additional clamping. Which isn't such a bad thing.
