Ok, 97 awd tsi.
Mods are in profile, yes I have a fmic.
When the temps get up to about 70-75 or higher my car will start to heat up to 223-225 at lights or in slow traffic, never really overheats though. I was having heat issues while cruising as well but I did the "custom eagle modification" and since then cruising is fine. I'm on the stock radiator, thermostat operates fine, same as cap, no coolant leaks and I'm using water wetter. Any ideas to get the car to run cooler. I've been told to do ducting but that's not a big concern when the only time I heat up is slow moving.

The front mount is gonna make the car run a little hotter even at a stand still because it still ubstructs the air flowing into the radiator.

Some things you might want to try:

1) wiring your fans to have them both running all the time.
2) venting your hood right behind the radiator to allow the heated air to escape.

Since your cars temp doesn't climb past 225 it might just need a little extra something to help get some air through that radiator

Ok I'm not sure why I double posted but I can't correct on my phone LOL

Aftermarket fans, pure water with water wetter, I thought bout the thermostat but heard it's not the best solution.
Think that possibly a pusher fan between the fmic and radiator would be a solution?
Also, would an aluminum radiator be a useful upgrade right now.

If you have atftermarket fans than you should be getting sufficient flow through the radiator, the air just might not have anywhere to go after that. I've also heard that changing your radiator hose to an aluminum one helps too, Greg collier had good success with that.

An aluminum radiator would obviously be great, but pricey. But if you got the money its definately a smart o

Depends on your definition of pricey. I picked up my Mishimoto radiator for $179. I haven't seen temps above 190* with my FMIC. If you look hard enough you can find used and get a good deal.

All the above suggestions I agree with. I have heard/read of issues with the lower thermo option (mainly related to DSMLink though). If you have a moment research further into that.

I agree, you can't go wrong with a better radiator especially if your gonna change to a bigger turbo and lay some power down. I was just offering some cheaper routes for the time being.

The radiator has been on my list and I have the money to buy one, i am just looking to do it right and get my moneys worth. I've been searching for radiators but there are several choices and price differences. Any advise on which one to buy. The car is a dd and plans for 500+ hp, something that could be used under those circumstances would be nice too.

I agree it's a good mod, just wanted to point out (or give hope, LOL) that there are deals out there.

As I said, I have Mishimoto. I have seen Koyo and similar brands go around ~high $200's used. No issues with my Mishimoto and I have had it for about 2-years now. I have the stock AC fan still, and another slim fan that's set up as a pusher. I have DSMLink though so they are set up to run constantly.
