driver side locking problem

When I lock my car door with my aftermarket alarm system the passanger side only lock and when i try and use the key the drivers side still wont lock, So I go inside and try the manually locking it with my hand and I notice the Locking switch wont go down. I force it down and it just pops up. I finally get pissed off at the stupid crap not locking so I take off the drivers panel and look around and see the rod is perfectly fine but whats making it not move is some little circle thingy its going inside(Something may be jammed in there I think). Please help I don't know what to do and I cant leave my drivers side always unlocked. Thanks In Advance
