Is there such thing as a aftermarket diverter valve or bypass valve for a 2G?? Something that just replaces the stock unit....

Im sure your all wondering why not just go with GReddy or HKS but I like the idea of just a straight swap from the old one not to mention less mods or

fabrications to do.. : S

HKS has something that sounds like it, would this be it Link:

HKS USA Bypass Valves

Do some searching and you will find what you need. But yes there are tons of aftermarket bypass valves. If you are running the stock uic there are a couple of places that sale adapter plates. Or if you like the stock look. There was a write up of someone turning the valve upside down and was holding 20+psi. Or the EVO's valve is the same as the 2G's just holds around 20 psi. I will find the threads that talks about these.

I have used many different types of BOVs and have had lots of experience with many of them.

What I can tell you is the only aftermarket BOV's that are worth a damn is the Greddy ones or the Synapse from my experience. I have heard good things about DSM crushed BOV's but I have yet to test one, so not sure on if they will leak or not. Almost all stock BOV's leak even on stock boost!!

What I can tell you for a fact is the Turbo XS, HKS SSQ, stock evo, and ebay copy cats are all garbage and are not worth it. I also haven't had any luck with Forge ones either..damn thing leaked no matter what. Most of all the ones I have tested leak with the exception of the synapse, and greddy ones.

Almost all BOV's will hold boost well enough to boost 20 PSI. Even the stock evo BOV which leaks horribly (even when reversed so they don't operate) will hold that amount of boost.

Problem with a leaky BOV, is not only does it change your tune with a MAF car, but it slows spool up, and runs the turbo in a different area of its compressor map, and of course usually not a good thing especially if the turbo starts to run out of its efficiency range. The only time when you BOV won't hold boost is when the leak is so bad that it causes the turbo to max out the compressor to where it just will not flow enough to hold boost pressure. If you are doing this on a 14b/16g at 20 psi you have a serious problem. I have held 22 psi on a stock evo BOV on a 16g...It held...but it was leaking horribly.

I currently run the Synapse BOV and have tested it myself to 35 PSI with zero leak!.:)

if you can get a hold of one try an evo 9 bov out. its all metal not plastic so it will leak a lil less.

The 1g valve works really well, but I notice on Tuners that people seem to have it in their heads that they need to crush the valve.

If you crush the 1g BOV, you are taking a great valve that works really well and turning it into crappy, unadjustable Greddy (and the Greddys DO suck). Crushing the valve is not the proper way to make it hold boost.

If you take the time to look at the damn thing before throwing it into a vice, you'll notice that it's got a port on the bottom that sees boost pressure. This port goes up to the bottom side of the diaphragm. Gee... if the bottom side of the diaphragm is seeing boost pressure, then I wonder why the BOV leaks at high boost... and maybe there's a easy way to fix that?

**Maybe** there's even been a VFAQ on fixing it that's been around, oh I don't know, for about the last TEN FREAKING YEARS. Hopefully, one day the people on Tuners will notice this and stop ruining 1g BOVs.

With any of the Evo bypass valve do I just need a adapter for it to fit on and put it in place of my stock one?? I cant seem to find any threads for pics or write ups on how to do it
