toronto,
Hey guys, I have a good chance to buy a 1990 tsi awd.
cost is about 750 american, with only 110,000 miles.
anyways my concern is that the 1990 is much different from the 91-94 I am accustomed to. For example can I swap my old 91 TB over to the 90 without any problems?
so if someone could give me a rundown of all known differences that would be great,
thanks

Im guessing since its in canada its federal emissions, the vacuum is completly different for that year as compared to a 91-94

However just like all the 1g cars you can remove all the vacume stuff (pretty much) and not adversely effect the car.

You loose your EGR but who cares...all lines are just extra stuff.

The ECU is different i think, and i think the 2nd gear is weaker in the 90's. I'd still buy it though, thats damn cheap if its in good shape.

different shifter, different exhaust cam, different cruise control system and location, different tranny, different ecu, and I just learned the cam angle sensor is different too

but no reason at all to not buy it in favor of a '91-94

i have a cpl things that im try to find out hope some one here can explain. im finding out there is quite a few diff.things in the 90 and 91 like the ecu.... tranny and shifter cables ...throttle body...coil pack..and i think there were a cpl more .cant think of them at this time but can some one pls let me know thanks.
