I have a 1990 TSI and I was talking to a fellow DSMer who has a 1990 GSX, we were trying to figure out all the differences of a 1990 model year. Here are a couple things we came up with:

ECU's are different ( someone wrote that they are all EPROM but mine is NOT. )

Cruise control is different

Stock BOV is mounted differently

Coolant overflow reservoir is different

Please post if you can think of anything else.

Back seats back rests are 1 peice

Speedometer gauge reads 5-15-25..... and so on not 10-20-30....

The 1.8s sometimes came with a flat hood(no hump)

I know there are more, I just can't remember them at the moment.

Actually, very few ecus are EPROM, if you do have 1 stock, consider yourself lucky :)

Speaking of the flat hood, i saw one today(first time seeing the flat hood) and had to look at it for a few sec before i realized it was a dsm.

sunroof latch is different on 90's...i've been searching junkyards for one since i got my dsm(mine is broken)
