i have a question regarding ecu 646 and a 395 , i have a 95 rs 420a n/t manual , which ecu is suitable for my car i have both .... thxx

:tease:

I don't think you're going to find the information you're looking for here... your best bet is to call a Mitsubishi dealership and have them reference the serial number.

thx man i posted this info weeks ago , and no one answer

WTF

It looks like you posted it about three days ago...

No one answered because no one has the information you need.

It might help to post pictures of the ECU's or more detailed information about the numbers on them. I don't think "646" and "395" are enough to identify them.

Yeah, that "646" and "395" numbers tell us nothing. And that picture isn't clear enough for me to see the actual part numbers. Do you see the number to the left of where it says "Chysler P/N"? Those are the numbers I need... I may be able to find the part in CAPS that way.

PO52690 is what it looks like to me maybe PO52680

CAPS gives a mitsu part number for a non turbo ecu as MD 166256 for 2.0 liter and MD 159561 for 1.8 *nm thats for a 1G*

It looks like the first one (365) is from an A/T 420A DSM, whereas the second one (646) is from a Dodge Neon. It makes sense that the A/T ECU would run an M/T car rather poorly as it's missing several crucial inputs from the TCU.

I'm not sure how similar the Dodge Neon and 420A DSM ECU's are for the 1995 model year, but for later years the only differences are the pin assignments for the cooling fan and IAC. The 420A DSM lacks a few things the Neons had, too, like the battery temperature sensor (possibly why your battery light is on). Finally, the maps inside the Neon and 420A DSM ECU's are different... different enough where you should really find the correct ECU for your car.

thxx for the info , regarding the ecu which one ill be needing so i can buy it on ebay . because the 646 ecu the ac dosent work...

95 Eclipse Talon Avenger Engine Computer ECU 420a 2g:eBay Motors (item 220495293867 end time Nov-13-09 17:52:20 PST)

this one ?

and your right about the cooling fans cause if the 646 the fans are always on !! and the ac dosent work

Nope, not that one... that one specifically says it's for an A/T. You already have an ECU from an A/T, and it doesn't work well for you, remember?

The exact part number (for a Fed-spec RS) depends on when your car was manufactured; help yourself:

01/94-09/94 - M05293319
09/94-09/94 - M05293319/M04874191
10/94-06/95 - M05269656/M04874191
07/95-07/95 - M04699062/M04887051
07/95-08/95 - M05269812/M05269905
08/95-12/95 - M05269810/M05269929

**unrelated question to the wise DSM guy**

Any reason you cannot have your ECU flashed? I was curious why they can flash other ECU's from other cars and then load fuel maps for your specific platform, like on my honda. My Honda is a 96 accord EX w/a Vtec motor gone turbo. I have a chipped/socketed obd2 P28 ECU and its almost plug and play to have new fuel maps loaded onto it. Is there anyone that does this for our ECU's or is this even possible? Does the Honda ECU have something these dont, and thats why? I dont fully understand how it works on the Honda, but I would love to have something like that on my DSM. Its very similar to DSM link, but for Hondas. There are a ton of different versions of it available too!

Just curious, and you seem to have 99% of the answers...

Thanks in advance!

Yes, a pretty good one too: there is no way to do it. No one, besides Chrysler, knows the specifics of the ECU or how to re-flash it.

Unfortunately no.

A more dedicated group of enthusiasts and a more easily hacked ECU?
