Just did my boost leak test. I put my tester on my turbo inlet and pressurized to 22psi. I found some leaks, but im confuse because I didnt ever see a reading on my boost gauge. I opened my TB thinking it would let air in to register on the gauge but it didnt. I dont know if because I had a big leak at my BOV that this is why it didnt make it there, but i have just heard about all the crap after the TB leaking that my test was bogus. I do understand I wouldve had to hook the tester up to the TB to test that stuff better, but Im just thrown my gauge didnt read anything.

Is it digital or mechanical and where is it tee'd off of? You're positive the system is pressurized when you look at the gauge and you don't just have a big, gaping leak somewhere?

Its a mechanical gauge, tapped off the FPR line. I found some more leaks today and I only have one left. The guage only gets up to about 5psi, I have a leak from my BOV that cant be fixed. I didnt know if one leak could screw so much up. Even with the few leaks I fixed it still hits fuel cut. The BOV has a crack on the casting apparently.

Yes, the huge BOV leak will certinley ruin your test fix the BOV then try it again.

2nd if you have a MBC disconnect it and put a hose straight from the turbo to the wastegate. (most MBC have safety devices that will also throw off your results.

Good Luck

One seemingly small leak can cause horrible horrible things. :( Never underestimate the power of a boost leak.

Keep fixin leaks until the gauge agrees with your inlet pressure and it holds it.

Just think how much work the turbo is doing trying to pressurize your intake when most of it is leaking out and how much air the ECU is seeing.

Damn.....alright, thanks guys. I cant believe one little leak can screw things up that bad. My BOV has a leak from the actual casting, go figure. I did not know about un hooking my MBC, maybe that is screwing up things, but I definetley have to get another 1G BOV asap and continue the test. Now I understand how even when you think everything is good and tight its not.

And thanks for hangin in there Steve, Ive had quite a few posts about fuel cut lately, Im slowly learning as I go.
