Would any of these junkyards seperate with a head and are any of them good and off a six bolt? Recently my car was running, finally i got to drive it, well after about a week total driving with the axles falling out and the oil coller seal blowing out. i thought i was pretty much in the clear with any major problems but then agian its a dsm. so of course my A/C belt came off and there isnt a lower timing cover so it and the the A/C belt got caught up in the timing belt. Screwed everything up and now my intake gear sits there which probably means my valves are really screwed up or my camshaft broke. So i am in need of a head complete and stock if you have anything that can help me including gasket sets let me know i also need help with timing it when i get the head on it. i am willing to pay anyone who will help with the timing and anyone with parts let me know price call 515 988 9911 oh and also i am i on a time limit i have till the twenty fourth of this month to get it done and running b4 i leave for college.

i know there are at least 2 heads at the junkyard i am going to on saturday. i think they normally charge $30 for a head.

yeah thats cool my head is off it only took me three hours to take it off. Pretty good for my first time doing it huh? Nine of my valves are bent and my pistons are a little dinged up but from what ive heard they are still okay. but now here comes the tough part do i fix this head or get a different one? well tomorrow i find out how much it will cost me to fix it and that will decide its fate. I have someone whos willing to help me do it sun mon and tues and it should be running by the next weekend. :D I think we should have another meet here same place but i dont know how many ppl still check this one maybe we should start a new post

a spare head never hurt anyone. if i was you, i might get a spare head and maybe put that on the car with arp studs and a fel-pro head gasket and run that for a while. in the meantime build up your current head with nice valves and springs, whether you do it yourself or hand it to a shop to do.
this way, if you swap heads in a few weeks/months, you can pop an oem/mls/cometic head gasket in there with the reusable arp studs and only be out the cost of the fel-pro gasket.

on the other hand, you could rebuild your head if you don't mind the downtime.

good job on the head removal! I can't remember how long it took me my first time. 4-5 hours i'm sure. but i know with my starion i could get the head off in 30 minutes :D .

I ended up getting the head from council bluff it has a little carbon build up on it but its easy to take off. It will be back together today and ready to start timing it tomorrow:D. Cleaning all these parts is taking a while but it will be worth all this trouble.

If anybody wants some brand new ARP stainless steel Turbo to Manifold bolts, plus a stainless steel gasket that goes in between, let me know, selling them for $35

I took the head off of the bad motor that I detonated the piston to mars and keep it just incase.

you are getting it resurfaced, or at least checked for warpage, right?

Maybe. Post it over on the DSTA board to remind me.

It all depends on how many bolts I break getting my old turbo off...

Yeah it was checked for warpage by the guy who i bought off of and it was fine. Its almost completly put back together except the vavle cover and some lines. Will be running tomorrow. :)

I'll let Matt know. Is the "forgot password" link busted or something?

Also, so far so good on getting the turbo off. Only one heatshield bolt left, and the rest came out without a hitch... The manifold and turbo aren't too rusty from what I can see, so I shouldn't have any issues from here. :D

yes you are i found out i ended up some how ruining an injector and replaced all four of the with some 2Gs i got for $50 and then started it and had an oil leak. Found out it was coming out my turbo oil inlet banjo bolt being loose or at least i thought. my bolt was stressed and i tried to tighten it and it broke so now i get the enjoyable adventure of tracking a banjo bolt down. And with less than a week till i leave for wyotech it looks like i might be s.o.l for driving my car there.

i will look around for a banjo bolt for you. you said it is the feed bolt on the top of the turbo?

also, good job with the 2g injectors. they have 2 nozzles and atomize fuel a bit better than the single nozzle 1g injectors.

Well i just took the banjo bolt from my buddies car thats sitting in my yardLOL. i will order a new one from mitsu and give him that i just dont have time to wait for it to get here. i took my cat off cause it was ratteling so i though i would have to clean it but it turns out there was a 1/2 drive 22mm socket that was in my cat. Now when i get it back on there, hopefully, i all have to do is time it with a light.

22mm, huh? is there anything 22mm on our cars? what size is the oil drain and the banjo bolts?
LOL
good luck on the rest of it. you will love it at wyotech. there are so many nice dsms out there. i have had quite a few friends go to wyotech.

Famous Last Words.
And you can go ahead and eat yours. Zero. Bolts. Broken.

And leave it to the guy who's been working in this area on his car... as far as I can tell, all of the oil stuff is 10mm.

The largest bolts I've encountered have been on the exhaust, and they're all 19mm.
