Hello, after a hellish rebuild(rings, valves, seals, balance shafts gone, decking, etc), including a new ecu and head gasket that I wasn't planning on something still isnt right. The car finally starts, idles loopy..but not the usual dsm idle sound..Vaccuum is very low.. under 8psi, ,many hoses are gone so theres very little room for leaks, and I got rid of the white smoke via a new head gasket again but now its blowing a little darker white, grey, even blue somtimes smoke.. and lots of it..it hints of oil and gas but I dont smell the coolant anymore. Compression test showed 154-156 accross the board, which i dont think is too bad? But there is some kind of grey liquid slime in the cylinders after it runs for a while just a coating thogh not a puddle.(ARP lube??) I am working on an r-title for this car so i can barely drive it and cant get to a garage without a tow, but I did do a few runs with it, about 3 miles around my street, it actually drives pretty good, sputters a little bit but pulls very hard through the whole power band under boost(15 psi), doesnt overheat, oil level stays steady, no coolant in oil or vice versa. Plugs look a little white though. By the way i am using NGK BPRE7S and total seal rings, along with a walbro 255 and aero afpr set correctly. Anyone have any clues what the smoke is from, why the vaccuum is so low,or why theres a lil slime on top the pistons ?

Do a boost leak test, its possible that you may have a leak on your intake manifold somewhere, your intercooler piping, BOV, your vacuum at idle is hellishly low, do a boost leak test and see what you come up with.

Hey your not that far away from me maybe about 10 minutes.

Did you prime the turbo before turning it over ?
Are you sure your gauge for the AFPR is reading correctly?
Are you sure your New ( USED?) ECU is good?
Just for kicks did you gap the plugs correctly?

It could also be a vac leak, since you said that you have low vac, and you said that it pulls hard when you push boost thru it.

I did prime both the pump and the turbo before starting it,also i checked all pipes and the turbo no oil, no shaft play, the gauge and regulator are bot brand new and should work fine, its a liquid filled gauge. The ecu is a warrantied reman, that was checked by local dealership(300 bucks to find out) so yes thats good, and the plugs are gapped right. I think i have to have a boost/vaccum leak somewhere though i just cant find it, that would account for the idle and vaccuum, but what about the smoke, the plugs seem to say im running lean but the smoke seems to say the opposite? Is it normal to have some smoke when breaking in a new motor?

do a compression test, you should come up with 150 or more in all cylinders, if its fine. it sounds to me, that your engine wasn´t rebuilt to spec.

I really do not understand why people make suggestions without reading the actual post. He already did a compression test, 154-156 across the board.

Yeah like I said..since my compression is good what exactly do you think is "out of spec"? Both the head and the block were professionly machined, and doubled checked by me. This is the 3rd dsm motor me and this shop have done together so I"m not worried about them not knowing their shit, I'm worried about something I probably overlooked. Leak, gasket, tuning, etc.

A stock longblock 1Gs standard compression is 164psi with a service limit of 121psi. Are you running the stock compression ratio? Those numbers seem a hair low for a brand new rebuild.
