Well, i dont want to sound like an idiot so I tried my best to find the answer with no luck. So here goes.

I've had my 98 A/T gsx with 84,XXX for a little over a week now and when the motor is cold, the engine takes a bit longer to start. About 2-3 seconds in the morning. My friend says its the turbo spooling. I also notice that my boost increases inbetween the delayed start, so i was thinking he might be right.

If that is true, how come turbocharged cars that come from the factory start without an issue?

Thx in advance.

Those optima batteries are a bit on the expensive side. Any other good batteries?

so I finally got around to changing my battery to a Optima redtop. It didnt have any effect at all. There is still a delay. Any other suggestions??

mine does it when its cold, i thought all cars took a lil longer to start when cold. :talon:

Yea make sure your spark plugs and wires are in good condition. I had a problem with a fuel leak and it would take about 2-3 seconds to start, but you say it only happend in the cold so thats a diff story.

Always let your car warm up!! Especially if its turbo. You need to allow all components time to warm up. Don't rev the motor while its cold either. You could (not likely) but could throw a rod through the engine. Cold weather is very hard on cars. You always need to allow adequate time for the engine to warm. Yes it is normal for a car to take extra time to start in cold weather.

Well, I had a fuel leak on my o-ring in the fuel rail. its been fixed. What are some good plugs?? And what kind of wires should i match the plugs with?

When did you fix your fuel leak? Are you still having the delay start up? As for the spark plugs and wires, make sure the spark plugs are not fouled with oil or have alot of carbon buildup which will not allow it to fire up properly. Also make sure they are gapped to specs (.028). Alot of DSMers use NGK BPR 7ES's spark plugs and Magnecore 8.5mm or Taylor 8mm wires. Here is a link for those plugs and wires:

I fixed the fuel leak a while back. Im still having the delayed start. My car isnt really modded, is it alright if i just buy the stock plugs? What about MSD ignition wires?
