just installed the ssautochrome header on my car and i love it, i dont care that everyone says they suck, they are good for the money, add noticable performance and look like every other chrome header after the high temp. hits em. My question is that i am getting a custom exhuast put on this week with 2.5" mandrel bent piping and a magaflow hghflo cat and an ebay muffler (4caroption.com to be exact), how much hp gain will i get if any? I know with the n/t 2.5"inch piping isnt good for low end torque but i plan on going nitrous later on. Im hoping right now tho after the install is done somthing between 5 and 15 added hp, can anyone with a similar setup give some input?

-thanks

I got the same exaust. 2.5 cat back with a magnaflow muffler. still have stock headers and cat. do you want to know the hp from teh whole system or just the cat back. catback it will probably be only like 5hp. wiht the header and cat it might get up to like 12hp at the most. its not that big of a difference wiht the catback, just sounds alot better, and, unles my memory is wrong, my top speed increased a bit. i think my 4th topped out at like 10mph higher than it did before the exaust. not sure if the exaust was why, but it increased.

ya im talking about the system as a whole, you think about 12 hp max? what if i add a cai, like an aem v1 will it jump up to like 16, 17+ more then stock then?

I have the AEM regular cold air also, and i noticed a little bit of a power gain, but the sound from the front is a lot better, especially during shifts. by adding a CAI(8hp-12hp) to the header(2hp), high flow cat(5hp), and catback(5hp), you could get anywhere from 20hp to 24hp. putting you at 160hp to 164hp on a non turbo. not a pretty bad set up.

I know i have the street series muffler, but im not positive of the model or whatever. if im not mistaken, all of the street series mufflers are the same, and the only difference in them are the tips. or at least they give the same sound. i know that the race series goes up in diamater. go to any shop and see if they have this big poster with all of the street series and race series mufflers on it. thats what i chose off of. or go to magnaflow's websitehttp://www.magnaflow.com/01home.htm and check out the different models. as for that raspy hissing sound, unfortunatly i suffer from that too. when its cold out(which it has been since i got it, but summers comming soon!!:D ) it gives off that hissing when the engine isnt warmed up. once the engine warms up for about 10 minutes or so, it sounds awesome. on the sheet i got from the shop that did my work, it said the muffler was only $100, which isnt bad.

I hope this helps you guys, and good luck:thumb:

this is an update on my custom exhaust set-up. I just got it back today from the custom shop and everything is kick-a$$ except my ebay muffler (4caroption) I dont know if my exhaust had a problem before except probably just being onld (95 model here) but the added torque and horsepower is incredible. I cant wait to get an aem cai, that should add to the exhuast and complimnt each other. Like I said before, dont do what i did and buy a 50$ muffler OMG it kinda sounds like a honda at high rpms and i hate hondas (no offence to honda owers, just personal preference) :shhh: as soon as i get the money i am gonna sell my muffler to a honda and get a new one, any input on the best sounding one for my setup?

ssautochrome header, custom 2.5" flexpipe, magnaflow high-flo converter, custom 2.5" catback, ebay muffler OMG

thanks

sounds great, an intake will make the car sound mean..by the way r u the hot sauce dude from the nyccdsm picnics( the guy with the supercharged nissan xterra?)

try a magnaflow muffler. 1, you already got a magnaflow high flow, so you can keep it all the same brand LOL, 2, they have great sound, and 3, they are relatively cheap(mine was $100).

as for the AEM CAI, it does make your car sound mean as hell. it gives it this deep musclely tone to it, it sounds awesome, but its most noticable on the shifts.

na im not that hot sauce guy, but if anyone has a magnaflow muffer they wanna sell me, ill take it iff your hands :D can emphasize enough how much faster the car feels now, i wish i know some place around here where they dyno test, ill upload the results if i can find a place.....

i didnt really notice a big difference with mine. granted my dad was in the car the way home(he was paying for it) so i had to keep it down, so i dont know if i just gradually got used to it so that it didnt feel that much better by the time i got to go wot. so i dunno. but buy a new magnaflow there only $100.

i have a ssautochrome header, and a 2.5'' exhaust with an ebay muffler.. i want to get a new muffler too.. its really nice and deep until i get to 3,000.. then its a little rapsy.. does your magnaflow sound raspy at all?

it actually really makes me mad cause right when i start it up, i cant rev it cause it sounds completly ricey and raspy. as soon as it warms up for like 10 minutes, the ricey sound goes away, and it sounds perfect. it occassionally still does it when i go wot, but after driving around for like 15 minutes that goes away. im not sure how it will sound in the summer cause i got it this winter so its always been cold out, but im hoping that its the cold thats causing it, and it will go away for the summer. so yeah it does that raspy sound, but it goes away when the engine warms up, and it sounds awesome, loud as hell, really deep, and not ricey at all. so past the first 5 or 10 minutes, its perfect.

sorry for the double post, it said the website wasnt responding.

one good example of the riceyness and going away, is one day me and my friend with a mustang w/ custom exaust with flowmaster mufflers(more muscle car sound, wouldnt recommend it for an eclipse, even made my friends 3000GT sound like a muscle car) were bored and i was leaving his house so we kinda just reved our engines for a couple of minutes. it sounded horrible, so then i left. i turned around half way home(he lives in the same neighborhood) and went back to his house and called him out and started revving it. it sounded perfect. that was a matter of 2 minutes difference.
