Ok here we go. I checked the timing on the cam gears on my car, and they were dead on. Next I moved down to the pulley and checked the marks on the cover. To my dismay the timing mark on the pulley was roughly30-40 degrees past the tdc mark. I jacked up the engine, pulled everything off the front and looked at the marks inside. The oil pump, balance shaft, and the crank all line up perfect. So now I have pulled everything off and broken my timing cover for nothing more than a piece of mind. Here's the question: would a pulley off of a 1g or a non turbo be different but still fit? I also noticed it is rubbing the cover. I figure I will try to get the right one or upgrade since I am there replacing it anyway. Or I have read where the pulleys come apart maybe it spun some and slid back? I had a harmonic damper on a jeep do that to me once. I don't know. What's a good upgrade/replacement fairly reasonable? Thanks

When my stock 2g seperated i used a hyundai 6bolt balancer for a replacement. Any 4g63 and hyundai G4 series balancer should work. The 1g pulley is about 1lb lighter then the 2g and the timing marks are different also but they are interchangeable. As for an upgrade a Fluidampr is an option but it is pricey.

Not arguing with you about it but what's so bad about them? I am just asking for curiosity's sake. I had a cheap eBay pulley on a neon I had and never had any trouble out of it that I an remember. Oh and what about the timing cover? Is it the same also? I found a couple non turbo 1g's and a Hyundai elantra at the local yards? Thanks again I don't know what I would do without the knowledge on this site.
