I have been battling this issue on an off for months. I know that the dipstick tube popping out topic has been covered more times then mike vics dog fight scandal but im having your worse then average dipstick issue.

I used to have a 2g dipstick and it would pop out here an there an it finally broke off. Now i am using a 1g dipstick an i have tried wrapping a little bit of cloth around the stick an jamming it in because it has been happening alot. I drive it normal and im getting oil on everything. I have tried using a spring on the stick an it keeps it down an oil is still coming past it onto the hood an over everything. I have tried hose clamps electrical tape you name it i have read the post. So i tried taking my pcv valve out and replacing it, didnt really help. So i took a valve an hollowed it out in hopes of releasing more pressure. Maybe its my catch can an how i have it set up. Im not sure. I have a line running off my pcv and a line off my breather tube and joined to a T fitting then running to the oil catch can and the line that runs from the can runs back to the intake pipe on the stock location. I pulled the valve off today that i hollowed out and it doesnt look like theres any oil in there. I doubt this is a poorly running engine issue because it only has 11,000 miles on it and the compression is 168 across the board. Any help is much need

Thanks guys

I use a piece of rubber tube. Put it on the dipstick tube halfway, the put the dipstick in it and press hard. make sure it is tight. Look at my engine photo to get a better idea.

Umm... I've heard of many things causing a dipstick to pop. Here a few:

First, check your PCV system.
Bad PCV valves will allow boost pressure to enter the valve cover and the crankcase.
Make sure your valve cover breather line isn't plugged.
Check that your dipstick seal isn't hard and dried out. It should fit tightly.
An intake pressure test will help you find out if your turbo is leaking from the compressor into the oil return, again pressurizing the crankcase.
Lastly, a leakdown test will uncover bad rings creating blowby.

You said you have 168 across the board so I would discount the blowby. That's was my first thought when I read your post. You have kind of a funky set up. To be honest, the first thing I would do is buy a new pvc valve and redo the whole ventilation system from the valve cover. They are fairly cheap and they do go bad.

*On a side note: Just finding a way to keep the dipstick from popping out will not fix your problem. That is the symptom. Take a look at this post: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/problem-diagnosis/147640-oil-blew-out-dip-stick.html Romeen and Oldman really put a lot of thought in to how the PCV system works. Don't bandaid your system, improve it*

So i took a valve an hollowed it out in hopes of releasing more pressure.

You just destroyed a perfectly good valve and made your problem worse.

The point of the PCV is to STOP air from entering the engine under boost so it only is open when the IM is sucking on it and closes as soon as air pushes on it. Can you take a picture of your ventilation setup?

If your dipstick tube is blowing out, there is a problem. Finding a way to keep the dipstick in by clamps and other means is like using an additive to cure an oil leak. Your aren't fixing the actual problem. You have excessive pressure in the crankcase. You can try using a check valve on the line to the pcv to keep the pcv valve from seeing any pressure at all.

Check out this thread for more info on pcv valves. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/229338-stupid-pcv-question.html

If the problem isn't pcv related something else is allowing too much pressure. A leak down test can tell you a lot more than a compression test. See about getting one of those done.

Alright i just took it down the road and the dipstick tube didnt come out. Its not even wet but yet i still have oil all over my hood after i just cleaned it and i got into boost. Im thinking it might be the turbo causing so much pressure that its forcing past the seals in the valve cover or something. Reason to believe that its the turbo is because its a ebay knock off i have had for a about a year:nono: Any thoughts? Im still trying to figure out how it got onto the hood. I mean the dipstick is not wet around the ring and its still jammed down in an the rag i have around it is not wet so its gotta be elsewhere. But the stick does like to come out on its own a lot.

I didnt really mind destroying the valve there cheap an i have a few laying around. I was having this problem before the valve hacking. I had just seen how people weld A N fittings onto the valve covers an run them to a catch can an i thought this might be a cheap way to do the same thing but somewhere along the line i was schooled.

Every time you get into boost you are pressurizing the crankcase with the way you have it, and have a major boost leak. Clamping down the dipstick is just forcing oil out past seals and gaskets elsewhere because the pressure has to go somewhere. I used to have a problem with blowing the dipstick out under boost. I put a new oem pcv valve in it and it went away for a little while, but came back. I ended up putting a check valve in the line running between the intake manifold and pcv valve and have not had a problem since. This is the valve that I used. Check Valves - US Plastic Corporation

Alright i replaced the pcv valve and it helped. It doesnt blow any oil unless i go full throttle . I will try the check valve and see if that works. The dipstick is not coming out but i still have oil on my hood and timing area.
