ok my car is doing it again it sometimes starts then falls dead about a minute later then doesnt want to crank again...ive had the crank angle sensor replaced before when the same problem occured and it was fine for about 3 months now we are at it again.... i just need to know where its located at and a picture of it ###

thanks guys

if u have a 89-94 then there is no crank angle sensor, but on the 95-99's its located right by the oil pump cover, you will see a wire coming out of the lower timing belt cover that runs up the firewall that is where the crank sensor is

have a bad cam sensor on mine, n will only fire on two cylinders. this a 95 that has it on the gear, it's rubbing n then shuts its down. Yea bad crank sensor = no spark

The OP has an N/T. I don't know if the CAS is the same as a turbo, but the 1gs have it on the end of the intake cam (passenger side end). The 95s have it on the front of the motor (driver side end) half under the intake cam sproket near the bottom of the sprocket and near the center of the front of the motor (maybe 7-o'clock under the intake cam gear looking at the front of the motor). The 96-99 have it on the end of the intake cam like the 1gs (but it's a different sensor design). If the OP's car is like a 2gb turbo motor, it's a 1-minute job to change it. One 10mm bolt and one plug, pull old one out, put oil on the o-ring of new one, put it in, bolt it up, plug it in, done. Note: "front of motor" means looking at it from the driver's side.

The virtual tour site (don't have the URL at work - maybe search "DSM virtual tour" in Google) has a good picture of the 2gb CAS. It's not the triangular metal plate, but it comes out the back of it, is black, and has an electrical connector on it.

If it's on the front of the motor, it's not so easy to replace.

EDIT: Here is the virtual tour page for the 2gb CAS: http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Engineprimer/2G/cas.htm

I had an early 95 engine with the sensor by the timing gears and now the new motor i have has the sensor by the cams. Whats a way i can make this work without taking he engine back out and changing the sensors around. I there a way I can just use the one up by the cams and extend the harness out to it. Thanks :talon:
