I blew my headgasket and the cause was the oem bolts. So I got it replaced with a multi-layered head gasket and arp head bolts. Now I was told to let everything set so I drove it around for 100 miles and then started boosting. I was boosting 20 psi and everything was normal, now I get the same overheating problem except no white smoke coming out the exhaust. I have boiling anti-freeze in the reservoir. So I checked the radiator, hoses, radiator cap and put the thermostat in 190 degree boiling water and it works fine. So I am guessing its the HG and apr bolts. I heard some noises coming from motor like the bolts weren't done right. Like popping noises or cracking noises is that normal? I am ready too sell it for pretty much nothing. Always something new happens every other week too it. I could be driving the new bmw 335I twin turbo.

This COULD be the HG and studs but it MAY not be..

Have you flushed your coolant system yet? Do you still have the stock radiator? Was there any oil in the coolant? If so, then yes, it probably is your HG. If not, it's probably a coolant problem. CHeck your oil. If it's milky then coolant reached it: also leading to signs of the HG. I think you needs more easons to think it is your headgasket before you assume so... But still, if it persisted after the replacements then I would direct the cause elsewhere...

Good luck and let me know how it all checks out...

yea, if the car overheated its very likely the head warped. If it wasn't decked its gonna blow the gasket again.
