So I always understood WHAT compound charging was, but I never understood all of the nuances involved(basically the HOW). This article actually lays it out clearly and concisely & I'm a convert & I have a baseline understanding of the process & can comprehend the compound charging threads elsewhere on the board. Hope this article can help others :thumb: Now my question is, how do you determine the best turbo pairing for the output that you want to achieve? Let's say you have an M70(just because) and you want to make 1000rwhp (because it's a nice round #). So, yeah I guess I'm overall asking how you pick your turbos for compounding to the most efficient pairing possible?

The article(pdf): http://www.motorsport-developments.co.uk/tech_articles/FAF307.tech.pdf

I'd always heard of compound charging as one turbocharger and one supercharger (so that the super would have no lag, until the turbo had spooled) but that is still a cool article, and I'm definately going to have to keep it bookmarked.

Edit: I take that back. I'm thinking of twin charging. Which everybody I associated with used to refer to as compound charging. But they obviously are not the same thing.

Just found this searching for something. I'm laughing my ass off now, because some of the wording in that article is taken directly from a PM that I sent to someone else that repeated it word for word on other forums, with just the numbers changed. ROFL None the less, it's not a bad article and will get people on the right page.

Hey Kevin have every started a thread or ever mentioned how you went about tuning for your compound setup? I was thinking maybe tuning for the smaller turbo then gradually adding in the bigger one. I'll PM you sometime.

####ign hilarious.

The fact is if you need this thread, you can't afford to pay someone to do it and probably shouldn't be doing it yourself.

Thankfully we have awesome guys in the community that have shared great information on this topic and anything else further would be about small details that one might only need to fine tune a setup.

On my setup, the tuning didn't change. I couldn't tell the difference between the compound setup and a single turbo. I did have to tune some parts of the map that I wouldn't hit with a single, but the process is no different. I was also already tuned for a similarly sized single running the exact same ET/MPH, so there wasn't much change for me, just a slight fuel adjustment. I'd just go for it. :)

Awesome I'm thinking about dropping my CR to 9.0:1 and running on pump. I don't drive a DSM hence the CR drop number LOL. But the first turbo is going on during the winter.
