Alright, so I will be getting a new clutch shortly and wanting something equivelant to the ACT2600.

Kris mentioned a local place here in San Diego that sells them, but they are AWD (which im sure i could use my FWD flywheel with the clutch)

Was wondering what that company was, as well as what all it takes to do a clutch swap.

:ohdamn:

What i know i need so far:

-Clutch
-Fluids (Redline MTL probably)
-Tools
-Time
-Help
-Beer
-Food

Yeah and just the know how I just dropped my tranny yesterday it took 1 hour after knowing want your doing

isnt it illegal to just up and drop a tranny?

:hmm: Kris might know the answer to this one

Southland Clutches in National City. Not to be confused with southbend clutches which is what Tim Zimmer sells on his website. Gyver has one in his car. He may be able to reflect on the performance of the clutch.

Ok, I should be able to contact them shortly and find out what they got for me.... need to figure out what else i need still

This is what im thinking so far:

Southland Clutch - Equivalent to 2600 ACT
RRE "No Name" slightly lightened flywheel
Braided SS Line - Master Cyl to Slave Cyl

Possibly not sure
Clutch fork and ball

any extras?

ACT clutches are heavy, for no reason. one of the biggest reasons crank walk ever happened to many cars is because of low oil pressure during start and a heavy clutch.

the 2600 feels heavier than an aftermarket mustang clutch ( they are mechanicly drawn[wire] not hydraulic )

2600 also causes a ton of extra stress on the motor/hydraulics for the same if not less plate pressure of other clutches.

in other words, the clutch is poorly designed(and has been for over 15 years ). They are used by most because they are use by most, end of story.

I have the 2600 in all of my cars, for years never had any problems. hell my GST has had the same one in there for the past 7 years and still grabs good as hell.

Alot of people use heavier pp's in place of a better gripping clutch disk. if you read through the english racing drag car threads you will see what I mean. they dyno'ed there car in manual setup with a 2100 and a 4 puck clutch and it held a few runs in the higher hp range than you would eever conceive of running a 2600

And in response to the mustang clutch their clutch forks are much longer than ours are and gives more leverage than our fork does but I agree they are lighter. it is the same way with honda clutches. cable systems with longer forks
