Toronto,
My o2 housing is filled with black soot. Plus the outside is heavily rusted. Any tips on how to get it clean again? Are there any precautions regarding the sensor?

Also, how can I clean the turbine wheel? Is it safe to spray something onto it?

The black build up is normal for those parts, however if youreally want to clean it I would take out the 02 sensor and wipe it down with some carb cleaner. I don't see any problem cleaning the turbine wheel the same way.

A nice port job like 1gcrazy stated would be your best bet for cleaning the inside. You could take a wirebrush on the outside and take it to bare metel and have it hot jetted or paint with hi-temp paint and bake it in the oven. :thumb:

Careful...i dunno about jet hot or the high temp paint but POWDER COATING IS TOXIC! Make sure you read the label. If you bake something like powdercoat in your oven, do not, DO NOT reuse the oven for food.....
Let me repeat that... dont use the oven for food after using it for powder coating....

For the o2 housing, just sandblast it. Then port the inside. I'd remove the sensor to do either though. As for the blades, I wouldn't touch them.

I wasn't talking about powdercoating. The 2000 degree hi-temp paint suggests you bake it in an oven at some odd degree for it to cure. Just clean your oven out afterward if you want. :D

The jet hott (I believe thats what it's called) would have to be sent out to be done.

How hard is porting to do? Does anyone have a detailed FAQ for this?

So I can just use brake cleaner/carb cleaner to do the job? Can I use the same for the o2 sensor? I want a DIY solution for the outside, any tips?

Porting is fairly straight forward, just google it and you'll come upon gobs of information. All you really need is a air compressor and take, with an air powered die grinder with carbide burrs. For the outside just get a can of 1800 or 2000 degree hi temp paint, bbq paint would work to. Just follow the directions on the can.
