Chip problems

So i decided to socket my ecu and run a chip from a local guy i know that burns chips for his vr-4. I used a zif socket and my stock chip works fine. Sometimes you need to mess with it a little to get it to stop the relays from clicking but then no problems. Well got the chip from him today and i cant get it from making my tach from reading 1k and my stock boost gauge jumps up. I get a relay clicking from drivers side firewall. Do you guys think it is the chip or the socket could be bad?? Considering the stock one works but he is running his own chips in his car with no probs?? Any ideas???

Could be either; bad socketing job or the actual chip itself. Usually a pin is not making proper contact with the board and that happens most often between the socket and circuit board since the chip is designed to mount onto the socket itself. Hope that made sense Have your friend inspect it if possible

If relays are clicking even with the stock chip, you may have bad capacitors. You should get the issue fixed before trying to tune with a new chip.

the chip was burned in a 1g format. That was the problem but thanks guys. I learned alot today about this stuff
