Cel [after blowing exhaust to turbo gasket]

If I had a CEL thrown at me (for blowing the exhaust manifold to turbo gasket to shreds) and i fix the problem will the car still run in limp mode until i reset the computer? Or will it auto update itself

It should autoupdate itself. But I'd just reset the computer just in case. It only takes about a minute .

Leave the negative terminal off for seven minutes, this is the general time that it takes for any electrical device to completely reset. For some reason, if you leave it off shorter it could possibly hold memory through the power loss.

Yeah, you should probably leave it a little longer than a minute. I just meant to say that it's pretty easy to do and doesn't really require any skill or time to do.

30 seconds is all you need to reset the ECU. Did you get the code pulled? I can't think of any CEL resulted from blowing out the manifold to turbine gasket.

According to the chiltons manual to reset the ECU remove the positive battery terminal and ground it for 15 seconds.

Try reseting it and see if that solves the CEL. Hope it works out

I wouldn't listen to a Chiltons manual if my life depended on it. I do trust Oldman when he says something though, definately knows his stuff.
