I did the RVR big rotor upgrade 11.5" with EBC red pads. I used cheap centric rotors. 24mm thick with EBC red pads. The brakes have an annoying problem. They dont work that well cold. First stop from 100mph or better and it feels like the rotors are warped. I switched to 26mm rotors and had them cryo treated. made very little diffference if any. Work fantastc when warm. powerful, smooth, quiet, and very little brake dust. easy on the rotor surface.

what i am wondering is is there a huge difference in the quality of cast iron? wondering if i spet money on better rotors if it would even help. or if i switched to a two piece totor of same diameter to save weight. would that be a step forward or backwards?

I've never run the rvr rotors, or the ebc pads, but do know that when I use part store rotors, they warp like crazy. I bought a set of oem 2g rotors from machv cheap and they have been golden. Been using hawk hps pads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but reds are a middle ground to the cold biting green and the "hot" biting yellows. They have and average to sub-par cold bite and above average to superior hot bite. What you seem to be describing is normal for the pads. :idontknow:
