Hello, I just recently purchased a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD (About 4 days ago).. Im a hardcore noob so dont flame me for the newb type questions.. i just want to learn and the way i learn is by asking ridiculous questions .. The guy that had the car had it sitting in his garage for over a year.. I've noticed a few Problems with the car and thought maybe you guys could help me out :D ..

1. The Car starts up fine if its cold.. but as soon as it warms up to normal operating temperature the car will NOT idle on its own.. also if it does it while im driving when I push the clutch in the RPMs will suddenly drop and normally the engine dies. Also it drives normal when its cold but as soon as it warms up and i start having the little RPM trouble the car rides rough.. like real rough.. :notgood:

2. Another problem is it will build up hellacious pressure in the radiator hose.. I can turn it on and it would only be running for 1-2mins and build up a crapload of pressure.. I was told a head gasget? maybe that would do something like that? i dont know..

3. This is more of an electrical type problem.. but ive noticed that nothing electrical works unless the motor is actually running (it wont work on the steps in between) the car has to be actually running..like my seatbelts and winshield wipers and factory CD player will not work unless the motor is running.. i have no clue on this one and was wondering if someone has had and/or heard of a similar problem..

If i come across anymore problems i will be sure to type them in here.. thank you for your time. :talon:

I have found another problem with this wonderful car. For some reason it wont rev past 5grand RPM.. in any gear.. is there anyway to change the revlimiter? If im going down the road its like my car shuts off from going so fast.. but it shuts off at 5grand rpm instead of 7.. anyone know how to fix this?

Fixed Problems - Will post solutions for people having problems.

Problem Number 1: Car Idles OK when cold but when the normal temperature kicks in, the car stalls and will not idle on its own. I fixed the problem by going to a local junkyard and searching for a about an hour for 91-93 DSMs.. I found one and ripped the ISC out of it.. took it in paid $5 for it, cleaned it up w/ some intake cleaner..replaced it in my car and now the idle problem is fixed.

Problem Number 2: The Hellacious pressure build up in the cooling hoses. I took it to my brother in laws shop (and he let me use his tools) bought a head gasget kit for around 96 bucks and a few hours later I have a new head gasget - fixed the pressure buildup. (thank God it wasnt a warped head).

Problem Number 3: Weird electrical problem.. while looking through my fuse box i found a blown 80v fuse.. replaced it and now everything works like it should (without the engine actually running).

Quick update..
Replaced my timing belt and water pump in my brother in laws shop as well.. (needed water pump.. timing belt for safety [dont like bent valves ect..])

found a problem with my brakes sticking on front drivers side and rear passanger side.. the car had been sitting forever so i decided to go ahead and replace all 4 brake callipers/rotors/pads..

** Very soon South West Ohio will have a new DSM on the road Woot!

I would like to thank this site for helping me learn more about my car and about my problems I had with the car. Thank you everyone. :talon:
