I have a 95 GS-T that likes to idle at 2 - 3k once the car warms up. This seems to get worse as the temperature outside increases.

I was told by a mechanic at my local Mitsu dealership that heat affects my throttle cable in such a way that my throttle is simply stuck open once the car gets up to normal operating tempertaure. If this is true, then do I simply need to adjust the nut on the throttle cable box on the firewall?

I have tried cleaning the thottle body out and have sprayed my throttle cables and throttle cable box with WD-40, with no lasting improvements.

The other thing I noticed is that the stock intercooler feels pretty warm to the touch (the lower endtank was really hot!!) when the car is having these idle problems. Could this be a heat soak-related problem?

Any suggestions you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i would try forcing your throttle plate shut with your hand (just push on the roundish' piece behind the big spring on your t.b. if that makes your idle go down, then you can just do what you said about loosening your cable. also, read my post on this same forum, and you will see i had a simalar problem.

My car does the same thing when warmed up from 2kto 2300rpms,..

PM me when you find the solution to the problem,..

thanks

I found out why my 90 GSX was getting warm-up idle problems,..With all the throttle body changes between a later 90-92 and my original 90 TB, the gaskets are different in shape and sizes between the 2.

Apparantly when I was using the later90-92 Tb and blocked off the FIAV and coolant lines and still getiing idle surge, i couldnt figure why,..Checked everything throttle cable, ISC, vacuum etc,..

So I put back regular 90 Tb and was still getting surges after warm up,..With a friend's help and his perspective (2 minds better than 1), he saw that the gasket of the later 90-92 didnt totally seal the air passage on my older 90 TB,..I got a 90 gasket and the reinstalled,..idle surge gone,..

This is my application only as I checked EVERYTHING!! ISC, blocked off EGR so no vacuum lines, thrttle cable slacked, TB seals, new intercooler couplers, etc,...I knew the leak was coming from the top of TB and couldnt figure out why till my friend and his experience checked it out,..

Check to see if your TB is totally sealed with a air/boost pressure test (with coupler and air tank--check VFAQ) and a water spray bottle to visably check for leaks,..

hope this helps
