i have a 90 awd... when i drive off in 1st gear and im at full throttle the boost guage shoots up to about 10 psi and the rpms go up very slow... until about 5000 rpm after that it boosts the full 14 once i shift into 2nd its sluggish until about 5000 rpm 3rd, 4th, and 5th r pretty good... now i have changed the plugs, and wires.... right when i got the car the harness for the cyl 2 injector was runied so we changed it ... i dont think its the motor cause once and a while the car drives great boosting fine throughout the whole rpm range after putting in the plugs and wires i was checking the spark... while the car is running and in cyl #2 when i pulled out the wire the idle didnt change at all... so i think i have a bad injector since it works at high rpms when the fuel pressure is high... if n e body know a definite fix on this please let me know... thanks for ur help oh and if it helps.... i have cams, full 3 in exhaust, and ported 2g exhaust manifold

I had the same problem in my 90 awd. Couldn't figure out what it was until i was about to install some 550's. Then i noticed the fuel injector seal in the head was ripped. So I did a boost leak test on it and sure enough air was coming out of the head thru the injector. I changed the seal and haven't had a problem in 1st gear at all. Weird thing was, it was only 1st gear.

Do you have a logger? I know my car accelerates just fine most of the time - but coming on first I will usually get bad phantom knock that retards the timing...

You may want to check for any knock if you haven't.
