I found a tow hitch for a 1g dsm awd but i cannot find a wiring kit for the trailer hook up? Can anybody help me ? Maybe a suggestion where i could find a kit?

I would venture the guess that you are going to have to make a custom wiring harness to hook into your brakes and reverse lights. On the car, you will have to tap the stock wiring and terminate the wires with a connector that will hook up to the trailer lights.

The trailer will weigh in around 1000 pounds loaded with a floor machine. I was just curious if anyone has ever even tried it. I get good mileage with the talon and its got way enough power. I just was not sure if it would overheat or kill the overdrive. I figure i need a vehicle to do it all. Sometimes fast,Sometimes a cruiser and some times a light work horse.

I've looked into a trailer hitch for my 2g also. From what I've seen, it shouldn't have any problem hauling something. You already have a shift kit and "massive tranny cooler" so I doubt you'll have any problems. Just keep the overdrive off.

I've tossed around the idea of a hitch because my girlfriend has a nice small sailboat (Hobie 16) that we'd like to take out.

Just watch how much weight you put on the hitch. Most ones for our cars can't take more than a 200lb load.

I'd use some sort of wire tap instead of just stripping the insulation and wrapping the wires around.

I knew someone on here HAD to have a picture of a DSM hauling something.
Just think of 2g hauling a 16'7" sail boat that has a 26'6" mast. LOL <- My plans for next summer.
The trailer and boat are light enough to just push around by hand.

Here's another nice long thread about it... http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/han...t-my-car-merged-5-7-hitch-towing-trailer.html

I would get a generic wiring kit. Get the trailer first to see what harness it has, then byt the harness and hard wire it in. I plan to do the exact same thing. I bought my 99 GSX with a class 1 Draw-tite setup on it. A class 1 can handle 200lb. tongue weight and a 2,000lb. towing weight. I just bought a 6.5x10 trailer for my snowmobile today. Tomorrow I'll go to Wal-Mart and buy the harness and wire it up. Done.
