Camshaft Angle Sensor Problem

The Camshaft Angle Sensor seems to be dead on my car or so the mechanic at satan says... He wants to charge me 1200$ (Canadian) for the part. Is there anywhere I can get one for cheaper or is this a ridiculous price? How can I fix this (If applicable)?

hes not lying, the cheapest i found new for the cas was 1200, here in Canada. but i just ended up gettin mine of ebay for 32$ american
