Hi we just installed my Web 272s and now when it idles it has a miss to it its a small miss but neather the less. Is this normal? we follow the online guides and zip tied the gears and did everything as showed. It seems to drive alright except the CEL light comes on as soon as i hit the gas and when i let off it gose off and it seems to bog down a smige when it comes on. It did this before as wel but not as much

the timming marks line up perfect and the rear lobs both face up like this
/ \ on TDC as well as this when rotated to TDC again the both face down like this \ / they look the same as the old ones when we took them off so i dont know what the problem could be any ideas?

Did you use a bungie cord to support the cam gears when they were unbolted from the cams?
If the cam gears were not supported then the timing belt can go slack around the crank sprocket and skip a tooth down there.

bungie cord hell no :( the guide said nothing about that! i had 4 zip ties 2 on each cam i dont think it skiped a tooth the zip tiew where really tight and if it did it would had losen up the ties but did'nt. I can get a tune off my dsm link correct ? and post it here. Also the car was tuned to the other cams could this be the problem?

I hate when people half ass a cam swap like that, unless you know what your doing you might as well take off the covers and make sure its done right.
Have balance shafts still?
So you have a 2.3 stroker and 272s, maby its a vacuum issue?

has no balance shafts yeah 2.3 and i dout its Vac cause it worked fine before well it had a small miss before hand but it seems worse now maybe bigger cams made it worse?

I have no idea i know the CAS is bolted back the same way that it cam off i marked it with a sharpe and the thing on the inside was sideways. we didnt take the CAS all way off we losen it enought to pull the cam out and put the new one back in which it went back in sideways casue the cam CAS spot was sideways.

Also the Vac jumps from 10 to 15 so dose that mean its got a Vac leak?

it dosent have a cover on the car and the marks do line up perfect the cams and the crank all line up mark to mark.

Whats the odds it could be the cams out of time? the bottom was TDC when we took off the cams so i know the bottom its set right but when we took off the cams we pulled off the cam gear as well. The lobes look the same they are pointing the same way i belive unless there a hair off.

How do u go about setting time on the cams to make sure there correct? like lets say u bought a new head and it didnt have cams how would u know the correct way to install them? there are no marks or nothing to go by. If we got it out of time on my car its in the cams not on the motor

What would i need to do on my dsmlink to help u guys read it do i just post a ecu settings i save or do i goto the timming screen on dsm link and take a screen shot and post here?

Dude seriously, as long as the timing is right, your cams are right. Period. They have dowel pins that can only be installed on the gears one way, so if you have the gears lined up like they're supposed to, your cams are right, simple as that.

I let my firend listen to it and he said it was lopeing :ohdamn: LOL i guess i just was'nt use to it sounding like that. He said all cars with bigger cams do that so i guess we did it right :D

If your mechanical timing is right then you should check your electronic timing. Did you use a timing light and set your CAS after the install? If not, you need to.

If you CEL is showing up under acceleration it's because DSMLink is set up to throw CEL's when the knock count goes above 3 counts, i forget the default. It explains your bogging as well. The car is knocking (maybe even because of advanced ign timing), so the knock causes the ecu to pull timing, in turn causing the bog.

The cam install you did was really half assed. To be sure everything is correct I'd take the whole timing side componentry off, pull both upper and lower cover, re-do mechanical timing, and when you do that make sure your oil pump is in correct phase, also make sure you're at TDC with cyl 1, and your dowel pins on the cams are UP, and timing marks all aligned.

Unless he has a 6 bolt head with that style of adjustable CAS (1G) the timing is fixed and non adjustable. I have a 6 bolt head with a 97 style CAS and timing is not adjustable with it.

its the 1g adjustable CAS and i cant set the timming on it useing a timming light cause the car has no timming belt cover on it. Im just going to put the CAS back the way it was and not drive it hard and take it to the preformace shop and see what they can do as it seems they know alot aabout DSMs :thumb:
