hi all, im starting a street/strip project build for 302/2000 once again. i will be building this bullet around the +700 awhp capable BW EFR8374 turbo http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/prod_imgs/installation/ul/install-39.pdf. im thinking o.e. 100mm crank with manley "turbo tuff" rods and j.e. 9:1 pistons. i plan to leave the head bone stock for documentation purposes only. i will fully build the head with cams, valves, springs & retainers and a race port after i get some baseline numbers. so my question/reason for this post is i would like to know real world results. engine rpm, spool times, turbo response, horsepower and torque numbers. since this is also my street car i would like to know how a stroked car handles things like passing on the highway or pulling a steep hill and simply zippin around town..

Race mode: i had originally planed to use a GT4088r(88mm) but when it is compared to the Borg Warner EFR 8374(83mm). bigger isnt always better i guess. the efr 8374 flows 79 lbs/min quicker and maximum engine horsepower is reached at a lower turbo psi than gt4088. the 8374 is a beauty starting a 45k and peek boost by 67k with a 1.05 a/r. i would like to hear from you guys, what turbo you are using, fuel, ems, rpm range, ect.. i would also like to see dyno sheets if you have or if you can put in words the what the power band is.

Whats your set up and how do you like it? If it was to be done from scratch what if any changes would you make?
FYI:tuning will be done utilizing a Pro EFI standalone
 
This is what im doing to my car also. Using a forged 2.4 crank, 7 bolt eagle rods, and wiesco pistons, and I will be using a super t70 just cause the 2.3 is a perfect engine for spooling larger turbos. then i have a fully built head, 1600cc injectors and a duel walbro setup on e85. Im just guessing for a littl3 over 600hp and in the 10 second range but i dont know how well this will all work, ill let you know when i put my block back in.
 
I was running a g4cs 2.4 for 8 years with the same off the shelf eagle rods, and wiseco pistons. 5 years ago I had a crank break and had a fresh crank put in with acl race main and rods bearings, but the same pistons.

I made 621 on straight 93 octane, and then converted to automatic because the gt4294+2.4 and the 5spd was not agreeing with each other.

I am in the process of building a new motor, and taking a lot of time to research what would be a good/best setup. I wanna be able to rev it high to make sure I can run out 3rd gear in the auto.

Turbo tuff rods are heavy, and after doing a lot of reading I am going to end up with another set of eagle rods with arp 625+ rod bolts which is usually the "fail" point of any rods now a days. I have did some reading were some supra guys tested a carrillo pro h beam vs a eagle h beam with a better rod bolt and failed around the same power (1300hp) if not more. eagles 340ish carrillo pro h beam 1100.

Weight is a factor always. The heavier the internals the more load it puts on parts. After 5-6 years on acl bearings they looked perfect with plenty of rev limiter 1-2-3 burn outs off the limiter spinning at 8750.

Pistons are another thing. My cylinder 3 failed...but after getting the motor apart and talking to my machinest the problem was that when I had the motor setup 8 years ago, it was not set up for what I was making the past year, plus putting nitrous on top. It burnt the piston/s up.

im surprised that Eagle rods held up so well. i did run them in my previous setup with a topline crank and je pistons. from what was told by a v8 engine builder is carrilo rods are extra heavy and not worth it. i will research more when i get closer to building the bottom end.

Carrillo Pr H beam rods are the lightest rods for our motor besides Scat, Eagle H beam, K1, Manley H beam which are from my understanding all the same, and come from the same manufacturer in china or where ever.

After a lot of research It seems that Eagle H beams with good bolts which I know to usually be te fail point of any rod will make these just as good as any other 1000hp rod, and be half the cost.

Just fyiw the pump conservative is extremely modest. Too modest imho.
