i followed the vfaq instructions to bypass my rad fans and to be on when i want them to be. i used very good wires made in japan that can be even used for 220 Volts.

now these wires are getting extremely hot that they burn the switch that i put inside the car for on and off ??? i tried 3 switches so far and they all melted ???? if i connect the two wires together without a switch nothing will happen but the wires will get extremely hot so you can not even touch them??

is this normal ? or what ? what i need to do to make the wires colder??

thanks

It sounds like you need to connect the switch to a relay and use the relay to operate the fan. This way the relay will be taking the load instead of the load building up in the switch. ;)

what i want to know is it normal? i mean does it always happen? or i made something wrong? the wires have to be extremely hot that you can not even touch them???

please also elaborate more about the realy taking the load , how to do this, iam not very good in electrical stuff.

thanks

yes i did the same, and my connections are 100% right, however i used 16 GA wires instead of 20 GA i think that my problem. plus his switch is made of metal and mine is made of plastic, i think thats why its melting i will try to put new wire 20 GA maybe this will take the load.

do you think so?

The 16GA wire you are using is actually thicker than the 20GA wire would be so I don't think changing that would help you. It might make the wires get even hotter and faster. Make sure you are using a DPDT (double pull, double throw) switch which has a center OFF position. And yeah, you should probably use a metal switch over a plastic one.
