It could be your battery is going out or your ground from your battery could be loose. I would start by tightening the battery terminals and going from there. Could be just a loose bolt that is not getting proper connection.

If you think its your battery, you could always take it to your local autozone or something and have it tested. Im sure it isnt something serious that is wrong with your dsm, something simple but easy to miss.

no its not the battery because it did it with my old battery and then i replaced it with a gel cell and it still does it maybe the ignition is going out? when i turn the key really fast and hard it works fine

I knew it wasnt your battery, I think you are going to need a new ignition because you shouldnt be figting with it to get it to turn over for you. You might just beable replace your key cylinder, im not sure if our car key cylinders could come out but I know some cars can.

If you have normal tension in the lock cylinder while your turning the key then most likely its not the cylinder. If it feels loose or overly tight, the cylinder is probably bad. It sounds like a faulty starter solenoid to me, Id check that.

I would also lean towards faulty key cylinder due to him saying that it will start if he turns the ignition real hard.

It could be the starter relay too, if you turn the key and hear a click from behind the dash towards the middle or passenger side then the relay is good, also check for physical obstructions, do you use a huge keyring thats hitting your dash? The cylinder should come out pretty easily if that is the problem, I think you put the car in neutral then use a paper clip to put into a tiny hole below the key hole if its anything like a gm.

it must be the cylinder it does feel more loose than any other car a have driven hmm about how much do these cost and if i were to buy one would that mean i would have a different key for ignition and a seperate key for my doors?
