Hi,

I was wondering what kind/size of brakes that people with 135-150 mph trap speeds were running. Also, I was wondering what kind of suspension these same people were running. I know that the suspension does not make a huge difference in the run I was jsut wondering this mainly in regard to the suspension hieght they were running. The reason I ask is that I am planning the build of a 1ga AWD Talon and these parts I have not figured out yet. I dont want to go too over the edge with brakes and suspension for waste of money and wieght (like big cast iron rotors), but if they are neccesary then I have no problem with it. I have searched here and websites like www.thebrakeman.com and was jsut wondering what people were running.

Thanks for your time,
Bill

Brakeman makes some crazy looking lightweight rotors like shep runs, or just buy some stoptech's or brembos in 13" 4 piston, some dot 5 fluid, and youre in. Suspension, many people like teins coilovers, as well as some shearer subframe bushings to help keep it strait.

Hey thanks for the reply. Why do most people like the tein coilovers as opposed to a shock and lowering spring combination. Is it because of the ride hieght adjustment or also because you can change the dampening of the shock with those knobs on top of it. I will contact the brake man to see what they can do for me as well.

Thanks,
Bill

The coilovers are as you said more adjustable, which leads to less time invested in getting the best setup. Plus, the ability to run EDFC which will let you tune them on the fly. Also, Teins are just that awesome. Stiff, great quality with a nice durable finish that wont rust over time. Good luck with the setup, hope I have been somewhat helpful.

As simple and to the point as you can! I have the Tein SS (comes with pillow mounts) because it was cheap, light, and clears 26" slicks well. I dont have anything on the car that doesnt need to be there, such as the EDFC. Im not hating on anyone, just making my 2 cents known.

Use light brakes. I have factory rear (mainly because of cost), and 13.1" x .81" 4 piston wilwoods from Todd at TCE. These are over kill for the 150 mph traps I have been doing, but I like them on the street. A good 12" kit will give you less rotating mass and allow the use of 16" rims. This is most likely what I would do if I did it again.

Cool, thanks a lot guys for the great input. Im glad someone with a car that runs 150 in the traps chymed in, LOL. EDFC is cool, but not really necessary for me at all I think. The same for sways bars, strut bars, etc. as was said before. I will check out Wilwood thanks for the suggestion. I emailed brake man but they havent emailed me back yet. Yeah I was thinking about the Tein SS coilovers, all my buddies have had nothin but good experiences with them. I was also thinking some dot 5.1 fluid, since it is petroleum based. Should I worry about suspension bushings like energy suspension or prothrane you think?

Thanks again guys,
Bill
