I have the Baer 13" brake kit on my fronts, and the have rust forming on both rotors where the pad and rotor do not make contact as you can see. I have sanded it off before, about 1 1/2 ago, but it came back:mad: , so is there anything to do to keep it from rusting back up the inner part of the rotor?

3 options as I see it.

1) either paint it with a 2000+ degree paint and then it will look kinda dumb because only that ring will be painted

2) pay somone to zinc coat them...

3) **BEST OPTION** get larger calipers.

seriously... not too much you can do about that however I would suggest when you buy new rotors, avoid the swiss cheese ones.

well I got them(the whole kit) used off someone so I didn't get to choose the options for drilled/slotted or zinc coated I wanted the kit for the longest time, but at $850 it was a far away thought until I saw them on ebay and only paid about $450. Where would I go to get them zinc coated and what can I expect to pay?

You need wider brake pads, I would call Baer and see if you can get a direct replacement for that caliper. It looks like the guy who sold you those wore the pads out and looked to have replaced the ones that came loaded in the caliper with maybe a performance pad for a stock caliper

OR you have them installed wrong and there's too much clearance between the caliper and the rotor. I would check the relocation brakets they include in the kit and make sure everything is ok. I've never seen anything like that before usually the pads sweep off any kind of rust like that If they are the right size and installed correctly.

they had the rust circle when the guy sent them to me. And I'm very sure I have the caliper on the correct way. I'll try contacting Baer and see what they tell me.

In short; No. They are iron. Iron rusts. Even zinc plated iron.

The pads are the right pads, the rotor is simply large compared to the center portion or hat.
I can use the same pad on a rotor from 11.5 to 13.5" and if the hat is the same size, well the distance from the nose of the pad to the hat gets larger.

Your only real choice is to paint them as this will last longer. Or you might consider electroless nickel on them but it's costly.
