Bov on stock piping???

I am thinking of gettting a bov. I no that you use bov's on intercooler piping on most aftermarket kits. Is it possible to put one on your stock piping?? I saw a video that had what looked like stock piping and he had a real nice bov and he actually blew up a condom with it but that is besides the point. I am thinking of getting one but i want to know how to do it if it is even possible.

Yeah. If you want, you can take it off and clean it up, but I'd keep the 1g BOV.

+1 on keeping the 1g bov and the condom spiel . The 1g BOV is a just as good, if not better than most aftermarket BOVs if you crush it or Dodge Garage Mod it. Plus, if you like a better sounding BOV, crushing it makes the "Pssssshtttt" sound loud as f**k. I love mine.

Crushing it is crazy easy too by , as it states, "Crushing" your BOV to stiffen the spring to hold more psi. or you can dodge garage mod which i preferably think is better. Here's a link. Check it out.

Keep your bov. 1g's bov's are known to hold boost pretty good. IMO i think they sound like a greddy type s when crushed, could just be me. Save your money towards other upgrades for your car.

Although I recommend keeping the 1g BOV too, you can drill new holes fit a Greddy RS BOV on the stock pipe. I did that on my last setup and it sealed fine with no issues. I also used a carbide bit and widened the hole in the stock pipe slightly so it wouldn't be a bottleneck in the system. I have a like new RS to sell. PM me if you are interested.

If you're using the stock 1G BOV, you already have one of the best BOV's. If you switch, there's a high chance you will be downgrading.

Ok i just havent run the car yet (due to the head still being rebuilt) and i did not know if it sounded good or not. I hope to have it done soon. I just want it to sound great

Put in a bench vise and smash the top part until the nipple just touches the the middle part of the "top hat." It doesn't take much pressure, so turn the vise handle slowly and use a piece of cardboard so you don't gouge the flange surface.

Mine is crushed and dodge modded and holds 32psi when doing a BLT. It might hold more, but haven't tested past that point. It actually blows off very quickly and I have been running it like this for a year with no bad side effects.

Mine is recirculated and you can still hear it pretty well when it blows off. I have a "home depot racing" cold air intake and the filter is in the stock smic area. It sounds great.

I use a Greddy type RS with mine, it sounds pretty cool but I got it for free. I'd rather stick with the 1g stock one and keep it recirculating. Seems to spool up faster that way.

Why hold it??

Cause a 1g BOV in good condition goes for as much as $45 to the honda boys. A crushed one gets about $1. And if he runs less than ~20 PSI, it'll work fine uncrushed.

I wont run over 20 psi at first just to see how it does and to learn the car. I have never driven it yet so when its all back together i will post to see what i need to do next. I dont have experience with turbo's and boost so idk how things are usually supposed to be. Thats why i ask all the questions. I cant wait to have it together and get my first taste of boost
