I can't get past 15psi. When i first got the car it was running 20psi all day long but i tuned all that down. I have already FIXED EVERY boost leak. Even went to the extent of buying all new piping, silicone hoses and a new front mount I/C.

I have the killer t28 w/ apexi avc-r boost controller !

Yesterday it wouldnt boost past 13 psi @ 1.25 bar & 65% duty. But spiked @ 15psi.
Today i put it @ 1.00 bar & 75% duty and it boost 15 strong w/ no drop.
My goal is to have it 17-18psi...

Do i just need to make the duty higher and keep the bar lower?

Thanks in advance !

And by the way... the turbo has NO shaft play whatsoever! spins perfectly fine also, so it cant be the turbo. Maybe wastegate? Slice in the lines to boost controller ?

What's "duty"? Is that like Gain on a Profec-B? I suspect it's your boost controller-- just try increasing the boost on the AVC-R and see what happens.

Nothing has changed w/ the boost controller. Nothing has been touched on it since it was installed by Hyper Racing of houston.

When i increase the boost, nothing happens now... but when i increase the duty and lower the boost the boost raised. ? ?

maybe i should increase the boost to 1.25 and lower the duty to like 50% ? to see what happens.

Ok I finally got my car to 17psi. I had to keep the bar @ 1.25 and raise the duty to 75% duty. Is that safe to have the duty that high? What is the most common duty ?

This isn't a head gasket problem is it? I have no smoke coming out tail pipe?
Wastegate issue? IM LOST !

I'd love to help you out, but I'd just be guessing. I'm afraid I'll have to bow out of this one for now. You could test your wastegate to see what PSI it opens at-- that might tell you something.

And I still don't know what "duty" is.

Ok so now w/ the same settings it will only hit 15psi... spike to 16-17 and drop back down for a strong 15psi.

Fouled sparks plus couldnt have ANYTHING to do w/ this could they?
I'm gettin new ngk's tomorrow anyways cuz mine are foul !

I'd like to help you out but have no experiece with that electronic boost controller. Your best bet would be to call and ask them about it.

Do you have it set up that the avc-r will learn duty?

Your reaching for things that arent the problem. You keep mentioning other issues...headgasket, spark plugs. The problem is the boost controller. Sometimes they simply dont work. That's just how it is. Get a good ball and spring MBC and see how that works. I bet it will give you whatever boost you want.

Nah dude i dont have the manual. I got the car with the AVC-r already installed.
Sorry for wasting thread space but i searched this site up and down and nothing was about this subject.

BTW thanks alot for that manual !

You misunderstood. I said if you have the manual your wasting space. But since you didnt, Im glad I could help you out with that. At least you can set it up and adjust it properly now. I Hope you get it squared away. Good luck. :)

Yep. EBCs get twitchy, are hard to set up, and get unreliable when you start boosting in higher ranges, from customer reports.

Sometimes simple is better. Ebc's seem to be only good for ohh ahh factor.

Danny

simple ebc's are fine, and the "i don't have to get out and pop the hood" factor is really nice. ;) plus being able to turn off the boost controller when someone else drives the car = :thumb: I haven't tried holding past 20psi though, so i don't know how far the damn thing will go. All i know is that less than 1/2 of the rotation range = 17psi which is enough for me (HKS EVC EZ). I'll probably go with a dual stage MBC on the other car though.
