I am planing to use the AEM stand alone. I plan on using it for boost control as well, but i dont want to use the stock boost Solenoid. Are there aftermaket solenoids that will work with the stand alone?
If there is not will the stock solenoid handle large amounts of boost?

get a boost controller. The solenoid will be obsolete. It is only used as a free mod until u put in a boost controller.

.

The car in my profile is not the car that i am putting the stand alone in. I am working on a 91 tsi

I have EMS (though not yet installed and working) and I'm not going to bother using it for boost control. I would just use a manual or good electronic.

What you will need however is AEM 5-Bar and AEM IAT (Or GM 3 bar and GM IAT) so you can run speed density. Check aem's forums for more info on that. Most guys I know don't bother with the boost controller built into the EMS because it's not that great. THe nitrous control is really cool so you can play with that for sure.

There are some pretty descent MAP's available for the EMS there too which are close to your setup that will get you up and running.

Definantly look into the AEM Forums for help. And I know of a few people that are using the GM Boost control solenoid as their boost controller, but it makes it diffcult to change your boost settings without changing something in your setup. Get to know the EMS and make damned sure it is something that you want to use, and love. There are a lot of things that you can do with it, but make sure you know how to manipulate them, or pay someone to do it for you.
