Norris just sent me this video of a somewhat recent event with his car on the Silverstone road course. The motor is a 2.3 stroker with a GT42 and a off the shelf SF EVO divided T4 manifold. Just an example of how wide and useful powerband can be even with a larger turbo if you're using the RIGHT parts. :)

The smallest 42r hotside is the 1.01, so I would assume that is what is being used.

I'm sorry guys, i hate sounding like the bad guy in any post about something that's orginally meant for sheer pleasure, but that is not a GT42R that is being used on engine, especially based upon the characteristics of how that turbo behaves. i've not only used the GT42R, but that is simply too big of a turbo to use on a road course event to have over1.5 bar in under 5000rpms. Though I'm not 100 percent sure as to which one IS being used, it is definately smaller than a 60mm inducer for its use. As one that has road raced both Evo 5s and a few other turbo models for almost 10 years, the telemetry log that is shown on this video doesn't match anything with the behavior or characteristics of a GT42R.. I'm really hoping that it is a typo of some sort, but that is definately something MUCH smaller to have that characteristic.

I'm not trying to be a killjoy, really... Just from that film alone with what I've seen, that turbo must be something else. I'll make sure to re-contact shearer tommorrow to get some more in-depth answers.

The run the 4294r, not the 4202r. Surely they could have switched turbos for a time attack event but they use this car to "do anything" which is why they use the 4294 instead of the 4202. You can contact Searer all you want though, you'll probably end up talking to JP, aka "coltboostin". ;)

Precisely. The GT4202 has even worse characteristics than the GT4294R. This video is not running either of these turbos. They are definately using something in the medium-frame size like a GT35R for that attack.

.... The GT4202 has even worse characteristics than the GT4294R.

I've had both in the ball bearing version on the exact same setup, (the turbo was the only change) there was no discernable difference in spoolup.

I can even buy that it is a 42R on a 2.3 in that video. Response looks good to me.

I watched the video at a slow speed and it's not reaching 1.5 bar until 5800 RPM's. If you have windows media player you can select the play speed toolbar under the enhancements menu, and see for yourselves.

Saying the car has a GT42r on it is not a matter of opinion-it is a cold hard fact. Its that simple. If you need clarification about to, feel free to call Norris himself- +44-1225-700748

If you need help dialing country codes-http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/results.php?FromCode=United+States&ToCode=United+Kingdom&Submit.x=380&Submit.y=308&Submit=Submit

If your just upset that your set up does not respond this well, don't fall into denial about it, and post misinformation in this thread. If you using well designed parts, you will have similar performance as well. Get to it.
