Boost leaking?? help please....

ok so i just bought my 98 gst about 3 weeks ago. when i got it, it smoked a bit like a whitish color. i was told to change my pvc valve so i did and it helped a bit actually but it still does a little at times.. im thinking my car could be running rich and thats causing the smoke because i have a venting blitz bov thats doesnt recirc on a 5spd car and it has a bit of a rough idle.
but when i hit about 5500 rpms only when stepping on it the car seems to die down a bit and it sounds like a high pitched whistle.. so i'll shift into 2nd or 3nd and when i hit about 5000-5500 rpms again it starts.. is that more then likely the BOV? im getting 1g on soon.

your rough idle is most likely from venting to atom. As far as the 500rpm, check your IC piping. Changed the IC piping on a 2g and the connection to the Throttle body was not good and what you are describing was happening.

Recirc your BOV and come back if the problem persists.

i've had the BOV recircing for a little bit now, this was a problem before i decided not to recirc.. venting has nothing to do with the problem.

Are you still having the problem, then? If so, can you be more specific on the amount of smoke, when it occurs and what conditions make it occur? How's your oil level? Coolant level? Any mixing of the two?

To be on the safe side, check your turbo for shaft play (pull off intake, try to wiggle the compressor wheel). Any in/out shaft play indicates that the turbo is failing. Noticeable side/side or up/down shaft play also means that the turbo is failing. Check the lower intercooler pipe for oil pooling in the pipe and the intercooler.
