did a boost leak test, and i have a leak coming from the throttle cable/spring area in the throttle body and right below it in a hard to reach area,, i can feel it leaking but can t see it

ive been told theres a bunch of rubber gaskets in there,,

I dont want to rip off my manifold because those gaskets are fine so why mess with it

is there any good gasket sets out there you guys would recomend for the Throttle body on a 2G?

should i jsut go to a dealer?

thx guys:thumb:

Your throttle body shaft seals are leaking. Check out Vfaq.com for the how-to. You can purchase o-rings at the hardware store for ~2. Just be careful not to strip out the throttle body plate screws.

You have to replace the seals in the throttle body. I just did this on my car 2 weeks ago. The SKF part# is 3930 and the dimensions are 10mm(ID)x14mm(OD)x3mm(thick). I got mine at Kaman Industrial Technologies for $5.00 each. Kaman Industrial Technologies 1-800-526-2626 You can also get them from NAPA but they dont have them listed in there computer you have to tell them to look it up in the seal book. When it comes to changing the seals it not that hard it took me about 2hours from start to finish. Just make sure to mark the Tps before you take it off so when you reasemble it you can get it at the exact same spot. The throttle blade screws can be tricky to get out because the threads are peened on the back side. A little trick I use to get them out is, take a diegrinder with a flat abrasive disc, and grind the exposed threads down till they are flush with the shaft. This will get rid of the peened threads. Then take a good screwdriver that fits the screws well. Girp the handle of the screwdriver with a vicegrip (for leverage) and push straight down with one hand on the screwdriver, and turn the vicegrip with the other hand. This get those screws out everytime. Just remember to put some loctite on the screws when you put them back in.
Good Luck
Adam

I know this thread is old but I have the same problem did the shaft seals do the trick to fix the leak
Cheers

yes this got rid of my leak, however make sure you pay special attention to the spring tension on the throttle, you have to whined it properly again

For gaskets go to your advance auto and pick up some felpro gaskets. as for the seals that are in the throttle body i get mine from an industrial bearing and seal place here in green bay. make sure you know what size you need though.

I use the oems ones, felpro does a good job too but i used oem with some rtv, and check for boost leaks.
