I have a 99 gsx but its automatic and i heard you can launch faster than a 5spd some way
???? is this true or not?? if so how do you do it and or what do you need???? also my car seems to get hotter than any of my freinds eclipses. why??? also my stock oil pressure gauge went off when i put in a manual boost controller can anyone help??

Sorry to break it to ya, but there's no way to launch an auto faster than a manual without seriously damaging your tranny. Sure, you can rev in neutral and pop it into drive, or "power brake" and hold the brake while you give it gas, but either way, you're killing your tranny very quickly. I don't even think doing either of those would be faster than a manual launch anyway.

OMG dont ever rev it up and pop it into gear, thats asking for a blown tranny..

Hold your break down slightly , get your rpms up and let go over your brake and pound on the gas, its called brake torque, altho dont hold on the gas to long with the break in , and you will be fine..

Power breaking isnt hard on your tranny really, thats why theres a torque converter....its what its there for. But like everyone else said DONT REV IT IN NEUTRAL AND POP IT IN GEAR. Or say bye to all the bands in the tranny :D.

With a high stall torque converter you can launch as fast or faster than a manual potentially. With a shift kit your car will also shift alot faster than a manual. A good end clutch will also keep you from frying your stock end clutches when trying to powerbrake your car. If you do it too much or too often on stock clutch packs you will indeed fry your end clutches. Another thing bad other than frying the end clutches about holding the brake and gas for too long is that it will start to pull timing.

Ah yes, the good "neutral slam" technique. My old beretta was able to handle about 7 of those in the 4 years I had it. On the 8th try I blew my tranny and was stranded on some country road. I can never go back to automatics.

Brake torque like everyone says. And save it for the track. Your car will like you more.

Check your thermostat and check/replace coolant is a good start for your temp problems. Don't know about your MBC. Are you sure you tee'd into the wastegate hose?

Listen to this guy here. I have an auto and I'll occasionally powerbrake it. But not every launch, only when it's really needed.

VelocitàPaola: Umm.... I smoke manuals of equal mods....... (before I did my turbo swap)

my friends uncle bought his 1st gen eclipse and he used to get going down a hill in reverse as fast as he could then slam it into drive just to peel out its kind of funny.... of coarse the tansmission slips now
